I already own this same set of knives in the all stainless set (gift from my daughter years ago). We love that set and use it often, so when we needed another quality set for a vacation condo, we got this in the zebra wood. We love this set better! The wood handles are thick and solid. I hand wash these and they don’t rust if you dry them right away. If you forget - use Barkeepers Friend (buy on Amazon) and you’re good still! Don’t hesitate - just buy it.

The media could not be loaded. The steak knives are serrated and do not cut - THEY SAW (not cut) through the meat leaving shredded meat instead of nice edible bites of steak. The video shows me sawing through a porterhouse steak. Note how the meat sticks to the serrations. I wish I had purchased just the kitchen knives and bought better steak knives.

Bought this very expensive knife set last year, (Oct 2022), because my boss had the same set, (he bought from Schmidt Bros directly), and I absolutely loved it. So, I ordered a set for my family, but [inadvertently] from this seller through Amazon.First thing out of the box I noticed the wood was dried out. But, I didn't report it because I thought I was being nitpicky, since they are individually made and so all sets are unique. However, just over one year later, a handle on one of the knives I rarely use is already cracking. I will note, I do not nor have I ever washed these in the dishwasher. So, I'm now thinking this set was a rejected set and sold to me for the same price as Schmidt Bros., which I consider thievery [because it's an overpriced rejected set, not a quality set] at the same price point as if directly from Schmidt Bros, whom I actually thought I was buying from, just through Amazon.Anyways, I'm having a difficult time finding how to contact this seller to get it fixed or replaced. And, based on how they respond to this review and the issue I'm now having, can only suggest you DO NOT BUY from this seller. The wood used is a cheap plantation grown, look alike. Sent them back.

The handles of the knives are not sealed, so the wood ends up splintering (it's painful). Water on your hands can destroy this expensive set in an instant. Also, the plastic covering the block is very cheap and has already chipped. I'm so disappointed in this set. It's aesthetically pleasing, but not functional. What an embarrassment to the company.
