Cozy Days: The Art of Iraville.
I picked this book up mainly because I liked the artist's deceptively simple illustration work.Ira Sluyterman van Langewedye - aka Ira - works mainly in watercolour; her figurative work has that rather Manga-inspired look that is currently very popular, but she has a delightful style of her own – especially with imagined landscapes, plant-life and animals. This beautifully illustrated book is in full-colour throughout; it isn't a “how to” book; rather it provides an insight into her working methods and interests with some technical tips thrown in; she has ideas on making one's own watercolour paints, sketchbooks and a paper-stretcher using sandpaper (a new technique to me – I haven't tried it yet). It's a very nice book to look through and offers an imaginative alternative to the “realistic” watercolours so many people who take up the medium strive to produce.I'm also pleased to see that an artist working with traditional materials rather than digital has been featured in a book like this.Another fine volume from 3d Total Publishing – do use the “Look inside” option above for an idea of the contents.

A delight.
This is a wonderful book full of simple, beautifully observed landscapes, buildings, people and animals. Cartooned, but lacking nothing, each line conveys a narration that makes each picture a story in itself. For those on the illustration side of art, the book is a good addition to a library. Balm for the tired eyes.

I loved it!
The book is really inspiring and informative about the artist's journey. The print and the overall quality is good, my only note is that the cover was a bit stained.
