Perfect for our mountain bikes (full suspension and hard tail)
It's awesome. Especially for mountain bikes. Stable, adjustable, modern looking, easy to assemble, and works great.I've hardly ever written a review for any product from Amazon. But I need to write this because I couldn't find any review written by users/buyers who are mounting mountain bikes. I read quite a few reviews on Amazon, bike sites, interior design, and general "cool s***" sites before buying the Delta Michelangelo stand, but I didn't find anyone commenting about hanging MTB bikes.I took 13 minutes to set up the stand from cutting open the box to leaning it against the wall. I'm pretty handy but I still followed the directions and didn't hurry. Some people have complained about weak parts that don't align or have bad bolt threads. I didn't have that at all. Everything lined up, the bolts tightened in, and it became a solid, piece of furniture with obvious engineering and design features. At first you notice that the arms from which you hang the bikes seem kind of long. But the length also makes them adjustable. You can twist the hook arms outward to engage different parts of your frame. If you try to hang your MTB bike directly from the bike's top tube with the arms straight out from the wall (ie, perpendicular to the wall), you'll find that the bike doesn't hang right. First, the bike will be quite far away from the wall and the bike won't hang evenly. Certainly not like the pictures on the websites for the product. For example, with the stand's arms at an even height on the vertical bars and perpendicular to the wall, the front tire of my wife's hard tail hung too low at first because of the angle of the top tube. Of course this would happen because the geometry and weight of a mountain bike simply isn't the same as a city or road bike whose top tube is generally straight and parallel to the pavement. You need to adjust the nicely adjustable parts of this product to make it work for you.I fiddled with different heights for each hook and with attaching the hooks at different points of the bikes' frames. By moving one hook up higher than the other a/o attaching it to the frame at a different place I was able to make both bikes hang evenly. For example, on my full suspension bike, one hook is under the seat and the other hook is under the front fork. That makes the bike hang in a position level to the ground with wheels parallel to the floor where there is maximum downward weight on both hooks which creates balance on the stands' legs. Also the bikes look good hanging parallel and even.In the end both our bikes are hanging evenly on a cool rack that uses minimal space. I have a lot of confidence in the design of the rack and hooks at this point. You might have to fiddle a bit with placement of the hooks and attachment points on you mountain bike but that's part of the fun of riding and owning bikes - trying, tweaking, and making it yours.
