FYI, I went to the website and asked support to tell me how much quantity equaled how much mg.  I got an email back next day telling me 1/4 tsp = 1,000 mg. Can someone explain why it's important for vitamin c products to be gmo-free when the vitamin c molecule is purified from the corn?

Studies indicate that vitamins processed from genetically modified sources, such as corn, may have lower bioavailability than the same type of vitamin derived from non-GMO sources. Pure Organic Ingredients Vitamin C Powder is non-GMO so this should not be an issue.

Pure Organic Ingredients Vitamin C meets the National Organic Program's criteria for organic labeling, but is packaged in a new packaging facility that is not yet USDA certified organic. We do not advertise it as such or include the USDA's seal on our packaging. The National Organic Program specifies a “National List of Approved and Prohibited Substances“. Our Vitamin C powder meets the requirements of this section as the raw materials used for the manufacture of the products, nor the products themselves were treated in any way that would make them not a certifiable organic ingredient. Pure Organic Ingredients confirms that neither the raw materials we use for the manufacture of our products, nor the products themselves, are treated with ionizing radiation. Also, sewage sludge is not used in our production process and handling. At Pure Organic Ingredients, we only offer high quality products that we use ourselves.
