Citicoline Used As Treatment For MS Symptoms
My husband has multiple sclerosis, and while MS affects each person differently, his cognitive thinking and memory have suffered the worst attacks. He has been suffering for 12 years, but was diagnosed with a myriad of different issyes by different doctors, until he was finally diagnosed after an MRI during a visit with his family in Mexico. His neurologist in Mexico explained to us how MS develops (Certain cells in the immune system get "reprogrammed" during a trigger event, usually stress related, and begin attacking the myelin sheathes around the nerves of the central nervous system in the brain and spinal cord; the inflammation and disintegration of the protective sheaths stop electrical currents from smoothly flowing from point A to point B, causing "short circuits" in the nervous system. The body heals the damage with scars ["Sclerosis" in latin], but they aren't conductive like the myelin, so the short circuit is still there.) He suggested that my husband begin consuming Citicoline supplements, which is natural in the body and, outside the US, is consumed by MS patients and is thought to coat the "scars" with a more conductive substance so the "short-circuits" are temporarily repaired. (Explanation from a layman of course, I'm no neurologist!!) We paid $75 usd for a month supply at a pharmacy in Mexico, and then headed back to the US to seek care. I was impressed with the results! My husband remembers dates, names, and places now. His memory has greatly improved, and he is able to make better decisions. In the US, my husband's neurologist had never heard of the use of citicoline to treat MS symptoms, but my husband didn't want to stop using it. He reached out to a neurologist and medical doctors who have practiced outside the US for second opinions, and decided to continue using Citicoline at 1,000mg/day. We found Bestvite's "Cognizin" on Amazon, and for only $37 usd (with shipping) - we buy it mon they now! My husband is very satisfied with the change he feels, the ease he has in thinking, and his increased memory. We've experienced what it's like when he misses a dose, and I can tell immediately: he's confused, lost, and struggles to have a conversation longer than 2 or 3 minutes without losing focus. As soon as he takes the 500mg capsule, we see a difference within a couple of hours - he can communicate better, participate for over an hour in a group conversation, and remember things quickly and easily. Thanks, Bestvite, for making Citicoline available!!

CDP Choline (Citicholine) for memory loss
I'm 73, and have been battling short term memory loss for several years. I've tried several supplements, including the best advertised one, Prevagen, for help with the problem. After trying the supplements for a month or more mostly based on Amazon reviews, I decided to do some research. I subscribe to a site which does a great deal of research on supplements, ConsumerLab (.com), and that's where I learned about choline. There are several kinds of choline, and the one which had the best test results for improving cognition/memory was CDP choline, also known as citicholine. After about 3-4 weeks I noticed my short term memory getting better (it kind of sneaks up on you). I've been taking it now for about 3 months, and the improvement has lasted. I'm not sure if I'm continuing to get better, but I think I am.I give this product 5 stars because it's the only one I've found that works. It can probably be improved upon, but for now, for me and my problem, it's 5 stars. As you look through choline supplements, you need to understand that there are 3 major kinds of choline - CDP Choline (or citicholine), Alpha GPC choline, and Phosphatidylcholine. As far as I've been able to learn, for memory loss, CDP choline is the one that has shown the most promising results in tests. Also, only 20% of CDP choline is actually choline, so to get the recommended amount of choline each day, you need about 1,000mg of CDP choline.

Use in supporting vision
I am doing vision therapy (as an adult) in an effort to correct lifelong amblyopia/strabismus. Why am I using citicoline? After doing my own research I found a few human studies showing an improvement in acuity and next to no side effects so I figured I'd give it a try. Research shows oral doses ranged from 250mg in young children to 1000mg in teens and up to 1600mg in adults. I have stuck with 1000mg as the bottle recommends but will soon try bumping closer to the studies given how well the first few months have gone for me. As I understand there is a dose balance to find between benefit, cost, and adverse effects.Given I am attacking this problem from so many angles, it's hard to say which solution is actually doing the work, but so far my progress has exceeded my doctors expectations. She says my progress is months ahead of similar cases. This comes after saying day one that I shouldn't expect much given how bad my vision is. Using this product in addition to all the other exercises and therapy have put me on a path to increase my vision after decades of thinking nothing can be done. To be clear, it's a multifaceted approach and this is no miracle supplement, but a part of a larger plan. I treat it like a daily vitamin, there in case my body needs it, but not a silver bullet to overall health. The only side effect I believe I've had is poor sleep during the first week. I normally sleep well but that week I was in bed for 8 hours and woke up feeling like I pulled an all nighter. This has since gone away completely. I've seen no problem with capsule quality yet like some have mentioned.Lastly I'll mention that certain supplements upset my stomach. Not so with these. I can take on an empty stomach or with food with no problems at all. There is no smell or taste and the product is labeled vegan. I am not sure where Citicholine is generally synthesized from but I'll take the label at face value.
