Easy to use and clean. Shaved Ice is pretty smooth

Unlike other shaved ice machines which produce ice "pebbles", this machine can achieve the powdery shaved ice like what you expect from a good Japanese Kakigori. The setup and operation are rather easy even if you don't understand the Japanese manual. I think the two major limitations of this machine are (1) the single full ice mold and (2) the small servings. The package provides only one single full ice mold and 2 sets of half ice molds. Practically, the full mold is the only one that works reliably. I understand that additional molds can only be purchased at the Japanese Amazon website and this is not ideal. The other reason for the small serving is that the machine cannot shave the entire ice block. About 20% of the original ice block remains in the machine that cannot be utilized. So, one has to be diligent in making ice blocks continuously and store them for later use. Otherwise, this machine is good in terms of producing powdery shaved ice.

Everything is good in this product except no English instruction in it. I used pictures to get the instruction.

I simply love the fine powdery texture of the shaved ice. It is ideal for the Korean bingsu, Singapore chendol! We have used it 3 times. Twice for groups of 6 and more. As suggested by another reviewer, I freeze multiple ice molds and store them in a ziplog bag. I loved the half size mold too. But two half size blocks together and it worked just as well.Really it is not too difficult to figure out how to use this machine (I do not read Japanese). The pictures in the Japanese manual really helped and the rest of it is common sense to use any appliance.

I love it! Makes amazing shaved ice fluffy and light just like all the Asian places I go to lol. Reminds my friends of Taiwan.

Chunky ice and not as pictured. My Ninja blender has way more finer ice when crushed. See pictures for results of ice is thick and chunky.

It shaved ice! It has recipes, but I had to use a translate program to understand those!

ふわふわなかき氷を作るには歯の調整や氷の表面を溶かす必要がありメンドクサイので普通のかき氷をガシガシ作っています。購入は2018年の夏で毎年夏の3ヶ月、暑い日はほぼかき氷を作っていますが2022年の現在でも故障なく使えています。人数が多いご家庭では規格のあった氷を作るカップを買っておくといいですね。

器が限定されてしまうので大量には作ることができません。

慣れると簡単にかき氷を楽しめます。ただし、コツがいくつかありました。1）氷を抑える歯のついた上部をセッティングする時は、歯を氷に押さえつけるようにして、その度ごとに（セッティングをする度ごとに）最上部のレバーを"OPEN"に回すこと。左手で上部を持ち、右手の指でレバーを OPEN に回すと良いでしょう。2）削った氷がなかなか出て来ない時には、正面に付いている、削り歯の調整ネジ（斜めになっている）を指で粗めの方に回して調整すること。一度、上手く行く場所が見つかったら、そのままにしていいと思います。3）製氷カップから氷を取り出す時は、カップのフタをしたまま、氷がカップの底から外れるまで、水道水で流すこと。氷がカップの中でカタカタ動くくらいでないと、再び固まって取り出し難くなります。4）実際に削る時以外は、安全のため、プラグを外して作業すること（氷の抑え歯や削り歯がついているので）。コツが分かるまで、数回はかかりましたが、あとはとてもスムーズで、楽に簡単にいつでも美味しいかき氷が楽しめます。日に何度も食べるので、テーブルに置きっぱなしにして使っています。製氷カップは別売りで2セット（4個入X2）を買いました。同じメーカーのMサイズには、HS-18M と HS-17M がありますが、問い合わせをしたら、発売年の違いだけで、形はどちらも同じでした。製氷カップのフタのふちに突起のような部分があれば、フタを外しやすいのにと、その点だけが気になりました。しかし、総じて星5つの価値はあると思います。酷暑のさなか、当商品 KTY-18BK を購入して本当に良かったです。フル回転していますが、家族の評判も良く、愛着も湧いたので、大事に使わせて頂きます。万が一壊れても、同じ商品を購入すると思います。
