Q: What is the shelf life of this caustic soda?

The 'listed' shelf life is one year, but I have used it to make soap and degrease metals much older than that. The product is a solid and if you keep the container tightly closed, it should last almost indefinitely. Remember, Sodium Hydroxide readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the air. This makes the product clump and get hard over time. All you have to do is break it up with a mallet (carefully) and you can use it normally. Also note, mixing Sodium Hydroxide with water causes an exothermic reaction and releases intense heat (enough to melt a thin plastic container). BE CAREFUL AND WEAR GLOVES AND EYE PROTECTION.

Q: Can you use this product for pressure washing?

Probably not: it is aggressively crossive to aluminum. Most rubbers would not be a huge fan either. It is extremely caustic - pressure washing creates a lot of tiny droplet splash, which would quickly cause burns on skin and don't even ask about eyes.... Any residual lye water that dried on the ground would be a future potential hazard if a pet or child (or adult) walked bare foot in it, or it got wet again. If looking for either a base to help clean oil, or an abrasive to help w scrubbing, maybe try baking soda sodium bicarbonate, or it's stronger cousin washing soda sodium carbonate. I would recommend against potasium or sodium hydroxide

Q: How may pounds should be used in a 65 gallon water tank for neutralizing ph?

I don’t have that answer . I use it for an outhouse

Q: How do you remove the large lid? The small pour spout is self-explanatory but scooping out the product seems safer.

I did not remove the large lid, I simply poured some quantity from small pour spout into a one gallon container; I labeled it for safety reasons. It's from the small container that I scoop out the amount I need. Both the large and small storages are kept out of reach for children.
