Recently, I got my hands on the Baofeng UV-5RM, an upgraded version of the popular UV-5R.The performance is very impressive. During a recent hiking trip in a remote area, I was able to communicate effectively with my friends, even though we were 5 miles apart. The clarity and range of the transmission are outstanding, allowing us to stay in touch without any annoying static or dropouts.The thing I like the most is the battery life. I was able to go several days on a single charge, making it ideal for extended trips. This means I can focus on my adventures without the constant worry of finding a power source.Overall my experience with the Baofeng UV-5RM has been nothing short of outstanding.Strongly recommended

This radio works very well has a lot of cool features like where you can monitor the weather radios and is very easy to program using the PC code plug that you can download on the Baofeng website or you can use chirp I recommend this radio to anyone who holds a ham radio licenses or a gmrs licenses. The radio seems to do right around 8 watts while testing it on a SWR meter. It also comes with a lot of stuff like a external mic, longer military style antenna both of these items seem to work very well so overall the radio is a great buy I would recommend theses radios to anyone.

The Good:-Tested and confirmed that each radio outputs 10 watts of power on VHF and UHF bands as labeled.-Color Screen-2200mAh battery pack is greater than what comes stock with a UV-5R-Lots of extra goodies in the pack including tacticool antenna.The Bad:Absolutely FAILS the FCC transmit standard for amateur radio use, generating several harmonics on transmit causing spurious emissions that at best could create some slight noise on other frequencies or at worst cause harmful interference that would get you a knock on your door by the FCC and maybe a fine. Yes, they do that. I'd rather not get their attention.The Baofeng UV-5R was cleaned up after some time and is fine to use. The same with the UV-9R Pro and a few other models, yet these newer generation of radios all seem to have very dirty transmit.Once they clean them up, they'll be a great addition to your HT lineup, but until that time, avoid.

The BAOFENG 5RM is a great radio, especially considering its price. It is just as powerful and functional as described. My team and I usually operate in cities, and the UV-5RM allows us to maintain good communication even when we are several blocks apart.
