Just what I needed to cut foam boards with a disposable cutter, Exacto, or Stanley knife. If it wasn't clear, there are two important features. One is that if has a non-slip strip on the bottom. And it has a distinct finger trough and thick edge along one edge. With the combination of those two features, you can use enough pressure to confidently hold the rule in place as you cut. You're unlikely to slip off and get you fingers into the path of the blade, and it wont slip. That's especially important with foam board, because to get a clean edge, you must make two cuts, and obviously, the ruler can't move between them.

I work in cabinet making facility and purchased the as a straight edge guide to cut veneer and also to mark out grids for alignment. This is perfect for both. The underside of the ruler has a rubber material adhered to it which is great because it prevents the ruler from shifting off point when pressure from above is applied. The graduations for inch and mm are clear and easy to read and I really like how one side ramps down flush and the other side is more a blade guide for cutting. It even has their "finger groove" which is a ditch along the edge that keeps your finger out of the way when running a blade down the edge.

perfect for my needs. It has a rubberish backing to keep it from sliding when needing to make cuts. the finger rail helps keep the ruler in place and avoid cutting yourself during cuts. The ruler is perfectly straight. I did buy it slightly used so there was a dent in one corner but it doesn't affect the ruler at all. Definitely recommend if you need a large ruler and need to cut materials at times

Fantastic straightedge and ruler: the thick edge along one side of the straightedge is great for guiding X-acto knives and making sure you have a perfectly vertical blade. For cutting through sheets of foam and other thick materials where the cut on the back side is as important as on the front side, this ruler is invaluable.

The ruler was delivered bent so I had to return it.
