Worth keeping for a lifetime!
This book is an absolute treasure! Everything is explained in such simple language, the recipes are quick and easy, and he's even taken the trouble to explain things like how to joint a chicken.I'm very happy I bought this and I reccommend it to every amateur chef.Cheers.

Well worth it folks!
I literally could not do my housekeeping without this book now,. I've always been thrifty with little food waste, but this has just upped my game, My family love all of the recipe's with the rotolo, char sui bow and gangnam chicken wings firm favourites. Any over ripe fruit instead of being rushed into a crumble, now is chopped and frozen for later use, and love love LOVE the homemade pickle; old limp veg used to be my main source of food waste, now cucumbers, carrots, cauli and onions are duly added to the jar throughout the week to be made into packed lunches the week after.Great idea's for old bread, all odds and ends go straight in the freezer waiting to be baked into garlic bread, tuscan salads or croutons for soup. As a keen home cook i found all recipe's easy to follow, tonight we're having the minestrone with a mother ship chicken roast at the weekend with chicken pie made from the left overs. Apart from the odd slice of moldy bread or a couple of squished cherry tomato's in the back of the salad drawer we have zero food wastage, and eat like kings off an average of £35/week including all toiletries, cat food and cleaning stuff. Well worth it folks!

Disappointing
I love JO and have many of his books but this one really failed to ignite my imagination. The tips on shopping and avoiding waste are useful to anyone who hasn't thought of them themselves, but my main disapppointment is with the recipes which all seem very 'samey' and which I personally didn't find exciting. I realise this is only my personal opinion but sorry, Jamie, for me you haven't done it with this book. On a similar theme I'd recommend Hugh Fernley Whittingstall's 'Lrftovers' book, which is fantastic.

Some really lovely in this book. I especially love the 'mothership' roasts (one for each different type of meat) followed by a range of recipes that use up the leftovers (even the gravy!). Brilliantly done as ever. Fab.

A fantastic book of tasty recipes and money saving ideas.
What a fantastic well thought out book! Loads of gorgeous recipes as well as tons of different recipes to make from one meal, eg half a dozen batch meals can be made from cooking one joint of meat. Really found the storage suggestions and calorie counter for meals helpful including where and what meat to source helpful. Jamie even shows in detail how to portion a whole chicken into different cuts.

Lots of interesting recipes
Bought this after watching the TV series. Haven't tried any of the recipes yet as live in Italy and from first look at the book, it has a lot of hearty recipes which I will try in the winter months. Good section on fresh herbs and how to store them which I have tried. I like the way that he has headed up each section, eg: Chicken - includes a paragraph on what is to follow and some advice and a list of the recipes to come including his "mothership", "leftover recipes" and "more recipes" and "shop smart". Just a small niggle - I really would like to see the book marks, made of ribbon or some other material, included in cookery books which seems to be missing in a lot of books these days, really helpful in getting to your favourite page.
