It totally worked
I just had an angiogram after strictly following the guidance in this book for 1 year, and my coronary arteries are now clear and normal. I also no longer get any angina pain. This information most likely saved my life. A massive thanks to Dr Fuhrman.

The most valuable book in the world.
This book saved my life. I had chest pain non-stop and shortness of breath with walking. My total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and Apo B were all sky high according to Mayo Clinic recommendations. TC should be less than 200. Mine was 324. LDL-C should be < 100. Mine was 231. Apo-B should be < 90. Mine was 158. After 8 weeks on this diet my numbers are: TC=195, LDL-C=122, Apo B =110. The chest pain is completely gone and I have no more shortness of breath when walking. With more intense exertion I still have slight shortness of breath but this will eventually go away too as the plaque continues to slowly leave my arteries. Even though I had normal blood pressure all my life, not long after I developed chest pain my blood pressure began pushing 140/90. After 3 months on this diet my BP is now 109/66. My fasting blood sugar previously was 5.4, which is not diabetic but is also not very good. After only 1 month on the diet it lowered to 4.1. I lost 29 pounds in 3 months all while having no cravings and feeling full on 2 meals a day and no snacks. I would have never gone on a diet like this but I was desperate. Now I wish I had been eating this way all my life. This is the most valuable book in the world!

Excellent book
For my husband who is because of his work always in great stress and sometimes wonders how to protect himself better from any unforeseen health problems such as the heart. He has been reading this yesterday when the book came in the post and today another 2 hours. He can see that the information is very helpful and has found a few things he is going to change now immediately in his life.We already were very careful with foods, all organic and so forth but this heart book is giving very much genuine insight with examples, menus (only a small part dedicated to that) and healing modules.Excellent to avoid getting a heart problem and if you already have one, delve into all the suggestions and follow the advice given to reverse any damage that might have been done to your heart and body.

Wonderful, accessible book, excellent recipes in the back. VERY effective at lowering heart disease risk if strictly followed.
Life saver! Wonderful book, very easy to read yet has all of the sources cited for further analysis. I just completed a 6 week Nutritarian diet experiment (>95% compliant) based on the recommendations of this book, and the results are staggering, especially because before my diet I have always been an ovo-lacto flextarian which I would say is 60% compliant with Nutritarian guidlines. I would say the shift in food preference was large, but the results were surprising considering I thought I was a healthy eater before. This book is what finally convinced me to take the plunge! So my stats: I'm 32 years old, male and been between 180-190 pounds the past 5 years. I cycle 13 miles 3-4 times per week and run a 5k 1-2 times per week. I generally do not lift weights or strength train beyond push ups and situps. So, before and after results:Before (Flextarian diet, ~160 minutes of moderate exercise per week, focus on olive oil, ~7 drinks per week, no limitation on salt)Weight: 185Cholesterol: Total 176; HDL 52; LDL 109; Triglycerides 77Blood Pressure: 120/76 (avg)All considered good by modern medicine norms, right? After 6 weeks of >95% compliant Nutritarian diet (No meat, dairy, oils, salt or alcohol)Weight: 177Cholesterol: Total 139; HDL 46; LDL 81, Triglycerides 53Blood Pressure:106/62 (avg)Very surprised at these results considering I had told myself my diet and exercise were very healthy before. If I was to offer advice to anyone doing this diet, I will say this: You must do it cold turkey and you must remove temptations from your house! The diet will taste very bland the first week, but it gets much better as your palate adjusts, I promise. If you're married or living with your partner, it will help if they adopt this diet as well. The number one item that I see cause failure is that a person does a lone diet shift and the family continues to eat a standard diet. Let's just say if someone put an apple fritter and fish and chips in front of me I would have been VERY tempted to eat it. You don't send a recovering alcoholic into a liquor store and neither should people attempting to adopt this very natural diet tempt themselves with processed or fried foods. Some other tips, I eliminated salt from my diet and utilized seasonings such as table tasty to replace it to good effect. I also adopted a lot of Dr. Fuhrman's recipes in the back of his book, of which you will need a VERY powerful blender to process the nuts and make the dressings he recommends.I also used the GBOMBS metric to help balance my diet choices so I didn't focus too much on one plant group or another. My biggest criticism, is that the information in this book counteracts everything in the standard western diet, however if you want to reduce or eliminate your risks of heart disease and boost your immune system, then this is an excellent way to do it without the side effects of modern medicine. While this data of lowering cholesterol via diet is being more and more supported in modern medicine and by in depth clinical trails, this book is very accessible to the average reader and an excellent start to change your eating habits!
