nice and sturdy
sturdy and grip well. I think I picked up my previous one at a local store. It folded as well, but was pretty flimsy with suction cup type ends. I wouldn't have used it for anything I cared about. These are flatter and grip what you're after much better and will definitely not fold up on you reaching because of the sturdier design. I even used it to get high ornaments off my tree that I couldn't reach. Worked great. A very good quality product.

Gripping power could be better
I keep several of these scattered around my house and on my zero-turn lawnmower. I have a bad back and these help me with reaching things on the floor/ground as well as from high shelves. Not good for heavy items, but OK for light to medium items.

Not too sturdy
Was excited to get these. My laundry room is in the semi-unfinished basement of our old farm home. So we have the tendency to have larger sized spiders, who don't build webs in the corners, find their way into the dirty laundry baskets. And I have a huge fear of spiders especially ones that just fall out of a pants leg as I am getting ready to throw it in the wash. So i got these reachers to help shake out the clothes before throwing them in the washing machine. And they worked for the first few loads but the grip became loosened with every item I picked up. And one of the grip ends broke and is flapping on the end. The idea is great plus they have rotating heads but they weren't sturdy enough for the job I bought them for apparently. Have only had them since July 31st. It's now September 13th and they basically are unuable. I don't like leaving a bad review but wanted to be honest about how well they have held up for me.

Works great! + some add-ons for changing light bulbs
Good grab, sturdy and light weight! I was intrigue w/ the idea in the description to use it for changing light bulbs, much better than grabbing a chair/stepper around and going up & down. However, when I tried it, I found it needs some "add-ons". The grabber by itself can loosen a light bulb, but it's not very secure in holding a loose lightbulb when turning it. It's also awkward/challenging to turn for full revolution while pressing the handle for grab. I improvised with some simple add-ons as shown in the picture. (1) velcro strip to secure the grab, freeing up the hands for rotating it (2) transparent "cup" from chinese take-out box as safety net to catch the light bulb in case. I used velcro again so it can be removed. (3) to install a light bulb, it is not as easy to keep it straight in place, so I use a foam cup to help. [Update:] actually using foam tubing over the flat tips addresses (3) way better!

Don't waste your money
Ok, here is my initial review. I try to always use a product for a week or so before I write my initial review. At first, I was pleased at how sturdy they felt. I use these to pick up sticks in the yard. When I say sticks, I don't mean limbs. Sticks about the width of a pencil and not very long (approximatly 1 foot). This purchase was a 2 pack. The first one lasted me a few hours, before I heard a pop. It would no longer close all the way. I attached pictures of me pulling the grip all of the way in and the claw no longer closes all of the way. So, I grabbed the second one and it did not last even an hour. I added a picture of the open handle where the piece holding the cable has broken. I had a cheaper pair that I previously bought that lasted me months doing the same exact labor. So, now I am back to having to bend over to pick up sticks again until I can find another set that I like. If one had broken....then no biggie, but when the second on broke....

Do not expect much use of the 'fingers" (end) gripping much weight...
I mainly got this because it could fold in half. The inside "cord" is a plastic based polymer that holds so far when opened/closed and used properly. The grippers could not even pick up the weight of my Samsung Galaxy phones. These are slim phones to begin with and I would not have expected them to have picked up these phones without a case on them because of how slim and slick these phones are on the sides of them when they are laying on their back or front. But with a case on them these should have grabbed them without issue, I would have thought & suspected at first glance. However, because of the way the ends of the clamps were made at an angle, for one and another there is not any reinforced material at the backs of the rubber gripping part at the end of the clamp (the "fingers") that the grips just slide off. Especially heavier items that weigh in at several or more ounces. So do not expect much weight to be held by them at the end-most part of the grip clamp unless the item was possibly double the thikness of a cell phone with the case on it. The aluminum grippers will grab and hold nicely bags of product that weigh several or more ounces quite nicely or a can of 15oz "whatever" at the "fingers" part, but picking something up slim and heavy, almost is out of the question. Overall if the gripper can grab the product well enough these grippers will handle at least a pound or two depending on the size of the product (it will handle the weight of a full 1 liter bottle of the Polar Seltzer just fine) provided that the user's wrist and hand grip can hold up to that much stamina to ge the gripped item to a place of safety for releasing the item in question, without dropping it.Hope this helps...Cheers!

Upgrade from our previous grabber
Our well loved grabber finally broke and I bought these as replacements. The other grabber was a couple dollars less than equivalent price of one of these, but these are much higher quality (see pictures comparing to my old broken black grabber). This grabber has a larger claw and better grips, the handle is at a better angle and more comfortable to use, it can grab heavier items, and the pole is thicker. The old one also did not fold like this one, although I really don’t see why I would use that function. The metal seems thin on the pole section, but it was even thinner on our old one. Our old one lasted for years so I am guessing these should last even longer

Grandsons love them
Bought these for my grandsons to pick up trash and they love them. One more chore I don't have to do.4/9/24 - the hinge stopped working and breaks.
