Quite the build challenge but a great printer
When I bought this I didn't realize it was a kit and that I would be basically building the entire thing myself. It took me almost a week to build it by working on assembling it a few hours each night after I got home from work. When I finally booted it up it got hung up on a wiring self test so I contacted Prusa's help chat line and the person I was talking to diagnosed the issue in under 30 seconds. I swapped where two wires were plugged into the circuit board for the extruder and I was ready for action. This is my first 3D printer and I went with this model because it has a number of preset settings and automation that make it easier for a first timer to get into the hobby. The good thing about Prusa is that they have good support for their printers and provide updates for their legacy printers making them upgradeable over time to increase functionality and extend their capabilities. The build quality of the printer seems pretty good and Prusa makes a lot of the plastic parts on this printer from other 3D printers and also offers files online for free if you ever need to print your own replacement. The user interface is pretty good with a full color display that has easy to navigate menus and good feedback while something is printing.I haven't had many issues with failed prints but when I did it was obvious that there was either a filament issue, a part/model design issue, or something wrong with the way I set up the print in the free slicing software. I've printed probably a half dozen brands of filament so far in many different colors and had no issues with extruding or filament jams.If you have a bit of extra money to lay down (there are other printers available for less out there) you won't be disappointed in this printer. Prusa makes solid printers that have very long life span and I expect this printer to live up to the name. I've not had to do any maintenance on this printer except for cleaning off the outside of the extruder hot end once.

Does great and just take your time.
This is a pretty awesome little printer. It took me 3 days working a couple hours each night. I accidentally mixed the x and y connections on the mother board so it wouldn't calibrate when I first fired it up. After reviewing the books that came with it and realizing that the x axis is the left right of the machine calibrated with no problems.Getting the prusaconnect and prusa link took a little to get connected but works like a dream after slowing down. The instructions were thorough and well written.I wanted to verify some pieces that came with it were the actual pieces I was supposed to use so I used the online chat. It took a few minutes of waiting before I got some help but once I did it was quick.Prusa slicer is pretty straight forward and has great features to get started and has different levels of set up from beginner to expert that allows you to customize it as you learn the program and become more familiar with 3d printing.I would by this machine again and I had fun putting it together but it does take time and patience.

Time consuming assembly, but worth it in the end. Don't be like me and eat the gummies first thing.
The gummies are very important part of the install. Don't eat them without following the directions! Very solid printer. Assemble, calibrate and buy tons of filament and enjoy. Very stable, reliable printer. Could buy a faster competitor, but this thing is rock solid. Also, the manufacture lets you print your plastic parts, even provides the .STL files to print them yourself. Doubt I will ever use them, but its a nice safeguard to have a box of breakable parts in a box in case it every happens. Expensive, but well worth it. Get this one, you won't be disapointed at all.

Fantastic Print Quality
As a design engineer, I use 3D printers as part of my job. I’ve used every type of 3D technology there is. The kit instructions are good, pictures could be clearer. Took about 3 days to assemble. The frame is aluminum, feels sturdy/stable. Started up without any issues or trouble shooting. The removable print bed (sheet) is awesome. Prints stick without the need for glue or tape. Bend the bed and the print pops right off. These are both huge issues with most low-end printers. Print quality is professional quality, smooth, no stringing, no goobers. Print accuracy is excellent. I did a 1” test cube and the features measured within .004”. Many printers I’ve used undersize holes by about .025”. These are spot on! The user interface is easy to use and shows you a picture of what you are going to print. The printer is fast (twice the speed of my old printer). The printer even has a filament sensor which stops printing when you run out. That allows you to load more filament and continue printing instead of having to scrap the print job. This is a must have if you are doing large prints. The Prusa slicer software is easy to use and is similar to most slicers.

Great assembly instructions. Takes 8-10hours to build. Tools are included.
Great printer. The "kit" is quite a project to assemble, Just follow the very detailed assembly instructions. If you are moderately handy, you can do the assembly yourself and save $400. It does take a full 8-10hours to build your first one, You need to be patient, meticulous, methodical, and persistent. Assemble it on a table, with tons of light.Once assembled the printer worked first try. No issues.
