I loved this story as a child and really enjoyed reading it again.If I had been reproducing the book though I would have put updated illustrations in, I found them dull and rather depressing.The story of Sara's fall into poverty and how she learns to adapt is moving and heartwarming, great story for all ages.

This was one of my favorite books when I was a child, it’s a true classic that you can’t beat. I am getting ahead of time , I have bought it as a Christmas gift for my niece, I know she will love it.

A beautiful written book about a young girl who is sent to boarding school. She is from a loving family with a vast fortune. She is loved at the new school for her generosity and friendship. She is such a sweet innocent girl, kind and caring. She then falls on hard times and has to adapt to a new life of poverty.Although the illustrations are old it doesn't distract from the sweet story. A loving and heartwarming story, I loved every page. I will certainly be reading it to my two granddaughters.
