PHEW! Much more heat flow than I was expecting
Bought these to try to cool an outdoor camera setup, and they work as advertised. My first impression came when I was holding it in my fingers, expecting some slight temperature change. Hooked it up to a 12v battery and pretty much immediately had to drop it.It was only then I was able to realize that although my index finger almost got burned, my thumb was ice cold.I can understand why people say they destroy themselves when left on without a way to dissipate the heat, but come on - pumping heat from one side to the other is what they're supposed to do!I bought a little 40mm copper heat sink with a built in 12v fan, and these things will run all day long if you can get rid of the cold on the other side.Surprisingly great technology, and great product

5 pack TEC-12706. They work out of the package
These worked when put in circuit. Tested with a 12 volt battery before installing. They do get cold on one side and hot on the other. How long they last has yet to be determined. They do work though.

Wire them is series is the most efficient way to dicipate heat.
If you have problem disipating heat from the peltier plate, try to wire 2-3 of them in series so each of these has around 4V-6V. Less power, less heat per plate, more area to disipate heat.Another solution is to get very low peltier power and wire them in paralel. In my application, I use both heat and cold to warm and heat water for aquaculture and get extreme efficiency. If you have to do it at nominal 12V voltage, then use water blocks to cool and heat the plates. water retains high thermal energy very good compared to air cooling. get cheap water pumps for the job.play around and have fun with it. good luck with your project!

Solid Product! Used for silly side project.
The media could not be loaded. They worked as expected! Bought a 360W power supply and made this cooler with two huge heat sinks. My buddy and I then but some piping around the hot (exhaust) and cool side. We blew air over both sides and directed the cool air into my gaming laptop to keep it cool while gaming and it worked really well! We used cheap thermal paste to get good contact from the pads to the heatsinks. Also, data sheets for these things are all over google. I found a few english ones no problem. One more thing, they do not draw quite the amount of current they say they will, but that is a small detail. If you toss a bit more voltage over them, they will draw more power obviously.

Quality varies
My original review said these were all operating to spec, but I spoke too soon. It was based on my original order of five, but I've since ordered ten more. In that I've had one DOA. I suspect shipping damage and the company issued me a refund for the unit. So, I don't fault the seller for that. Ten of them are running between 8-17% under power. The worst is that I've had one fail after a few hours of very normal use. So, now I don't trust them. I'm going to run the rest through some long term testing and report back. I've also ordered some name-brand modules from another source. I'll see if they're worth three times the money. I've seen some with similar specs that cost 15X more than these.

Works well in the Koolatron.
So dumb customer (me) didn’t realize that there are 5 to the pack . . . . . . . . I have spares. Wanted one to fix an aging Koolatron cooler and found that it works better than the original part. Cool on the inside - happy customer.

Not Cooling After 6 Months!
i bought these and repaired my thermoelectric wine cooler back in July. 6 months later and they’re no longer cooling. Lifespan should be longer than that!

All arrived in Good condition
Surprisingly, all the pieces arrived in good condition. Considering the poor packaging and other purchases from this vendor that arrived broken and non-functional, this was a surprise.Performance is what you'd expect from a Chinese 12706. Performance is a little below US made but more expensive TECs, but they are consistent between units and in testing I was able to get a medium sized cooler down to 26 degrees F (ambient 67 deg. F) using a liquid-cooled water block hot side and a super efficient 10" x 4.5" x 1.5" 22 fin heat-sink. Anything less would not pump as much heat and would not cool the chamber below about 35 deg. F. These units draw 1/4 the power of the Aideepen TEC1-12715, and are much more efficient.Assuming the next batch is as good, I would definitely buy them again.
