Q: What size batteries does it take?Are the bad reviews right?

It takes3AAA batteries. I only use the cord plugged into my I phone charger cube and have had good success with it. I put it on the three dots setting and let it go. My appliances come out looking sparkly clean.

Q: Can you use this daily to clean apnea devices?

If it’s a dental device designed to stop apnea induced snoring, yes. But not a cpap machine.

Q: Can I use baking soda, white vinegar, or peroxide to use in the basin instead of the liquid cleaner?

While you could use those materials, they will not properly clean or disinfect your appliance. The first 2 ingredients will not disinfect the bacteria and fungi. The third could cause discoloration and damage the material. You should always use dedicated products to clean dental appliances like the Liquid Crystal Soak Cleanser or Cleanadent Paste.

Q: How do you open the battery compartment? It seems like it is screwed in.

It’s not run by battery. It needs to be charged with enclosed cord.
