Runs like a champ!
Update August 2024 : Ran this beast during a power outage in the middle of the summer heat. It powered up instantly and ran the geothermal cooling and everything in our home with no problem. It was very efficient on gas usage and we were pleasantly surprised at only needing to top it up once. Noise levels were definitely lower than the smaller generator units our neighbors were using.Original review : We got this generator to replace our smaller generac 7500 unit. We needed a really powerful generator to handle the initial draw of the geothermal system we recently installed. We switched from oil heat to geothermal and that means that if the electricity goes out, the heat goes out too! This one is a beast and about the size of a car engine. Oddly enough, it rolls better and is even quieter than our smaller unit. It shipped carefully packaged and with no damage at all. The delivery company scheduled delivery when I was home and the driver was kind enough to hang around while I unpackaged the generator to make sure it was ok.We had an electrician out to set it up and there were a few expenses we did not think of. We need the 50 amp aspect to run the geothermal. This meant replacing the plug that connects the generator to the house to a 50 amp and replacing the cable. This unit uses the generac 6389 cable which is quite pricey as well. I stuck with generac because the last thing I need to do is lose power between the generator and the house because I bought a cheapo cable.I love the push button start, the way the unit is balanced so that I can roll it in and out easily. The fold down handles are easily folded out of the way. When it runs to power the house, it does so without a flicker or a blip. And it can seriously run everything! Now to buy bigger gas canisters and a larger gen-tent for bad weather.Very happy with this purchase.

Power!
Just went through a 3 day power outage. I had the 18000EFI for just two days prior; perfect timing. Wheeled it out, plugged it in, flipped the 50amp breaker, turned the key, pulled the transfer switch to generator and powered everything in my 5000 sq/foot home. I upgraded from a 12000 watt generator and while it was reliable it could not supply both central a/c units or both furnaces and labored to supply the microwave. The 18000/22000 takes the loads effortlessly. It is heavy at just shy of 500lbs. Needed to use a jack to mount the wheels but once installed it was no problem moving it on level ground. Engine oil was supplied with the unit. Added oil and gas, turned the key and It fired right up. No choke as it is fuel injected. It is not the most quiet unit on the market but that’s to be expected with the engine size. Fuel consumption was above the average advertised but again, I powered the whole house so it was under a constant load. It ran flawlessly for 3.5 days non stop with no issues. I’m actually looking forward to the next outage.
