Another cash grab from Mattel.
I have mixed emotions about this line of Barbie movie dolls. This particular Barbie is the best out of a mediocre bunch as there are no printed details on her outfit and her sequin jumpsuit reflects the light nicely. Her blonde hair is a soft saran which is great too. It’s also nice to see that Mattel has included accessories that compliment the outfit, particularly the earrings. Points are given for movie accuracy and the slight resemblance of Margot Robbie. But sadly, the positives end there.I noticed that the flimsy display stand tilts the doll forwards and is unable to support her weight properly which serves no purpose beyond attempting to justify a highly inflated price tag. Unfortunately, I decided to throw my display stand away since it served no functional purpose and was a complete waste of plastic. These dolls have also been marketed as a “collector line” by Mattel (yikes!) and they include a redundant certificate of authenticity printed on cheap, thin paper, which is confusing to me since these dolls are not numbered with an edition size? But despite Mattel’s misdirected marketing towards adult collectors, this doll has a distinctive play line quality that makes it easily identifiable as a cash grab by a money-hungry Mattel. The plastic body feels cheap to the touch and the lacklustre design of the doll becomes more noticeable when she is removed from the box. That being said, I decided to go ahead and purchase her anyway. I admit that nostalgia won me over in the end, and I had the spare money to splurge on one of these Barbies as an adult collector, but I will not be purchasing another. Overall, I would recommend this Barbie if you feel compelled to take part in the Barbie renaissance, although that renaissance will be short lived if Mattel fail to rectify their prices. The price tag for these dolls is too laughable to be taken seriously. It seems that capitalism is in full swing with our friends over at Mattel!

Unfortunately defective
Obviously this won't be the case with all Barbies, but mine is unfortunately defective. I only noticed once I'd already opened it (so no chance of a return or exchange) but my doll has two left hands. It's not the end of the world, but I was kind of disappointed since I was so excited to get her. The headpiece is also pretty flimsy and doesnt stay attached well, even when the doll is completely still on the display stand. The heel part of the shoes of my doll are also completely bent. I wish I had better things to say about this doll. I also got the Cowboy Barbie seperately, and that doll is much better quality and I didn't have a single problem with it. If you plan on keeping the doll in the box, this will probably be fine for you, but if you want to take her out this doll really isn't the best.

Nothing Special for increased cost
I collect Barbies. This one is nothing special for the increased cost. It seems Mattel think it is okay to charge £20 plus more for each of The Movie dolls. A rip off in my opinion. These are not limited edition or from their many more expensive collectable dolls.
