This is really good boxed potatoes. In certain circles there is a potato dish called funeral potatoes, if you know, you know. These remind me of the best funeral potatoes I’ve had. Add a corn flake topping and these are a home run. Cheesy. Flavorful. Easy to make and they are irresistible. Making these a regular rotation.

With the economy being what it is these days I have been purchasing random groceries for my kids recently who live out of state. You know sending care packages unannounced and unexpected but also very much appreciated. The truth is most everyone is having to tighten their belt a little bit regarding expenses. Everyone is feeling the effects of sky rocketing grocery prices. I just don't know how the young men and women today manage to get by on the minimum wage paycheck or at a pay rate considered barely above it. In response to what I just stated about the current state of the economy I chose the au gratin potatoes because A. they were inexpensively priced and B. they would make a hearty, stick to your ribs side dish for the newlyweds. I sent three packages of these potatoes out along with three packages of Velveeta macaroni and cheese and twelve cans of assorted Chunky soups. When my kids called a few days later to let me know they received the package and to say thank you they also did not hesitate to tell me about the creamy, tasty, yummy Au Gratin potatoes they had now fallen in love with. Makes a great crockpot potatoe soup mix

Granted, I cooked this in the airfryer, but I really did not like it. Very salty. I ate a couple bites and threw it out. Definitely nothing close to mom's.

Don't let a few black edged chips that show up from time to time bother you.They are inexpensive and tasty. In my opinion... a good value and kids love them.

These potatoes baked up nicely. However, they had no color to them, and they were severely lacking any flavor. We threw them away they were so bad.If you wanted to add some cheese to them, you could probably doctor them up enough to be edible.
