4 YEAR REVIEW ON WORK BOOTS ..Not just for Salomon..
Wow 4 years on and these have stood up to everything that broken ground and building sites can throw at them. The boot soles have torn so I order new boots and I am still using the same Salomon Quick Laces. I tried LockLaces and a cheaper brand for other boots, but found they promise similar performance but are not thin enough to truly release when removing the boots. Original 1 year review: I know these look like they are only for Salomon footwear, but I took a chance and bought them for some workwear steel toe boots. I didn't find the problems others had 'assembling' the mechanism, perhaps it has changed recently, but I found it pretty straightforward to fit them. These are now fitted to a pair of V12 Workboots and work well, a sharp tug on them tightens the lace instantly. It leaves quite a long bit of slack lace that needs to be tucked in to the bottom part of the lacing out of the way. Releasing them is easy and a joy when getting home at night and just wanting rid of the bricks on your feet as quickly as possible in favour of some soft trainers, banishing the feeling of a working day mmmm :)

Good quality poor instructions
Okay the jury is out if these are genuine Salomon quick laces. That said the quality is still good and it works the same. The instructions are non existent/ pants! To fit:——-Do not try to thread with the loops attached on the lace. You don’t need them and you will spend a frustrating 20 plus minutes having a hissing fit as they will but are extremely hard to thread. The easiest was is to carefully cut off both loops and then very carefully heat seal the nylon ends ( I used a match) to stop it unravelling. Once you have one this the lace will easily thread through the loops on the trainers/hiking shoes.Once you have threaded the loops you need to push each end of the lace through the black slider / buckle that has a big S on it. Do this carefully from the narrow end to the large end. It helps if you push the moving part/slider in the middle (bit with the grip and S on it) towards the thick part.Once you have the two lace ends though (one either side) you need to push one lace through the small end of the male plastic part and one lace through the female plastic part. Work out how much lace you want and then tie a tight thumb knot in each end and cut off the excess. Now pull the trainer end of each lace so the knots you have made disappear inside the male and female plastic part.Once you have done this, push the wide ends of the make and female plastic parts together until they click and your done.

Really did the trick
After watching some YouTube tutorials it was really easy and allowed recovering some speedcross to functioning after I was lazy one day and did not tuck the latch and ripped it off. Now did not want to waste any so now sporting a fashionable dual colour 🫣 (black is the original, red is the replacement). Works like before and could not be happier, only wish they did some more colours/neon.

Impossible to fit - by design
All very good up until the last moment. Foiund a video on YouTube which perfectly explained how to fit. All very easy. However the last step is to thread the laces through the male and female parts of the toggle, make a slip know to secure them and then clip the toggle together. However, you cannot make a knot in the lace that is small enough to fit inside the male toggle. The lace is too thick and too stiff - there is no way that this can ever workI had to make a lump of melted lace large enough to stop it slipping through the male toggle. I don't know if it will hold.

Revived unusable shoe
Easy to fit, used original fixings so still have enough cord for 3 shoes as well as the new fixings. Have a few pairs of Saloman shoes, so useful for future failures.

HORRENDOUS
I bought these to go in my Salomon walking trainers. They are near on impossible to do, and I am not one to give up lightly! I got them threaded through the eyeholes but the tube that you can use to feed them into the slider thing was too big - once I wrestled with them then you are supposed to feed the plastic stopper on & make a knot. The knot (no matter how hard you tried to tighten it) was too big and they were not able to snap the 2 ends together shut. Do not waste £10 on these - I have just bought normal laces

Great
Perfect. Comes with 2 laces. I ripped the included instructions when opening the packaging. Thankfully, there are several instructional videos on youtube which are easy to follow. I recommend using a sewing pin to thread the laces through the holes in the shoe. A plastic tube is included to help you with this but I didn't find this helpful. Once the laces are threaded, I recommend putting the shoes on before cutting the lace to the right size. I went by eye and ended up with too tight laces, unable to put the shoe on, I had to cut them off. The second time I put my shoe on before working out a good length, I only needed to replace laces on one shoe so I just compared with my other shoe. For me, the perfect length was where the loose ends of the threaded laces reached the reflective strip at the tip of my UK size 5 shoe.
