Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar [DVD]

Loving the songs in this one. It's really funny too.My daughters (age 7 & 2) love watching Barbie movies & singing along to the songs. They can watch these over and over again & never get bored. They have virtually the entire Barbie dvd collection now; brilliant for a rainy/cold day, or when they need to sit and be calm (so I can get on with housework etc. ... naughty mummy using tv to "watch" the kids :) !!)The stories always have a respectful tone, & well-mannered underlying moral / teachings so that's an added bonus - I buy dvds to entertain my kids ... not teach them, so when they do I see it as a responsibly made product (it's my job to raise my girls the right way after all). All in all - always an excellent purchase!

Princess and Pop Star is yet another great Barbie movie. We have all the Barbie movies, and despite my children getting older (11 and 7) they both still enjoy every movie. I am delighted that they like these movies, as they are always good for teaching morals and values in a non preachy fashion. The characters are always happy and well behaved, without the movie being boring. There are always catchy songs and happy endings. What more could you ask for? Better than all the Disney TV series & movies they all also like, as there is no pressure within these Barbie movies to grow up. They are fantasy and great in allowing kids to stay kids a little longer, and to use their imagination to believe and dream.

I must confess I was super excited about this DVD. Every previous Barbie Musical has been top notch and Barbie Princess and the Pauper just happens to be my absolute favourite! So I'm really pleased to report that this modern remake turned out to be everything I was hoping for. All new story, plenty of girly pop songs, (watch out for a new version of a classic from the original) loads of beautiful outfits and all round Barbie cuteness.EDIT: Having seen this about 4 times now (and loving every minute) it's rapidly becoming my number one Barbie DVD! I just love it so much!!!

I bought this DVD for my daughter for Christmas having previously bought her the junior novelisation from amazon to read first, she has all the other Barrie films and loves this. As a parent having to sit through these films I noticed that the story line seems very similar to the princess and the pauper but also one of the songs has the same tune as a previous film with different lyrics, doesn't bother my daughter though!

I’ll be honest, I’m 26 years old and bought this to watch for the first time but I absolutely LOVED it! I grew up watching some of the older barbie films and this has managed to make me feel nostalgic whilst still being new to me. Story was understandably predictable but some of the songs were excellent!

The graphic detail has obviously had a lot of time, effort and expense put into it, but it's a shame the story was so weak.is there any chance that Barbie could be allowed to be human and meek occasionally in this new 'she-male' state that's now become the norm? Shame all this wonderful computer power can't be used on something that has a more romantic, gentle style, with morals.

This was purchased for my daughter who loves the Barbie movies. It’s what you’d expect - cheesy songs and not a lot of logic to the storyline but full of songs you’ll end up knowing well, plus of course princesses, makeovers, friendships and cute pets.Perfect for a Barbie fan.

This was the latest of the Barbie dvds we bought for our 4.5 yr old daughter. It didn't disappoint her, as she's now singing the songs and loves to re-watch the film. From a parent perspective I noticed that they re-used one of the tunes from Princess and the Pauper (just put new words to it) and also used the 1980's Cindi Lauper song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, but hey it works!! All good for little Barbie fans.
