Takes a long time to get up to functional temperature, and slow recovery between repeated applications.

I order this Branding iron from Amazon because of the great price. The manufacture has been in business a long time. I did call thier customer service before I ordered this branding iron to make sure I understood the time frame it would take to get the personal name plate done.I received this tool from Amazon early. with in three days. Very Happy about that. Sent the document requesting the name plate in to Wall Lenk. In 6 days I had it back ready to go. It is perfect. I have always wanted a high quality branding iron for years. Most are to much money...

This is an excellant product.It gets very hot , so be careful not to hold it on wood too long.I have two heads, one is longer than the other . The shorter one does a better job,I think because the long one gets hotter in the middle than it does toward the outside.The head screws off so they are interchangable.Soft wood burns quicker than hardwoods . Takes a little practice , but very nice product.

Update: The head arrived in a little over a week.. well, not exactly. I received the cushioned mailer that contained the head inside of a clear plastic bag from the USPS that said "Received Damaged". The cushioned mailer was torn, and no head!I called the post office and they said I would have to go to the sorting facility during business hours, talk to a supervisor, and fill out a form and she said they may get back in touch with you... Wow, really?This is where it gets good - I called the company that machines the heads, told them my story. We laughed a bit at the USPS, and then she just said: "no worries, we'll get another head out to you." She verified my information and the verbage I wanted on the head. That was it - done, problem solved! The Wall Lenk Corporation gets my vote - best customer service experience I've ever had.-------------------------------------------------The iron arrived quickly and was packed well. Upon opening the package, I finally knew what the options were for the branding head, something that should be in the description...For the price, you get text only, two lines, all capital letters, 3/16" height characters, 20 characters/spaces per line max.They offer four different options on the sheet you fill out and send in to have your branding head custom made:1. HANDCRAFTED BY"YOUR NAME"2. MADE BY"YOUR NAME"3. PROPERTY OF"YOUR NAME"4. ANY MESSAGE - 20 characters/spaces maxANY MESSAGE - 20 characters/spaces maxThey also list a customer service number in case you would like a logo, your signature, etc... Of course, at extra cost.The iron looks to be well made and heats up quickly. My only want would be for the iron to have watt or heat settings for different materials.

I just ordered this product and thought I might get a jump on the lead time by calling Wall Lenk directly. Other reviews were very positive about their service. WL Lenk would not budge off their "out dated" process. I will have to wait for the product to arrive at my address. Then I will have to complete a paper form. Then mail it via the US postal service. WL Lenk will not fax me a form. They will not accept a fax'd form back. They will not accept an email.Update 1.5 weeks later: Still waiting for the attachment with absolutely no visibility to when it will arrive... amazing with today's technology!!!Update 2+ weeks later: Still waiting for the attachment. Will not buy another WL Lenk product.Update: Had to make a phone call to find out status. Was advised that it will ship in another week. That will make 3+ weeks if true. Horrible, avoidable process.Update: Got it finally... heres the kicker, it's bowed so that when pressed straight down, only the middle letters brand the wood. I'm trying to bend it back straight to avoid another call to WL Lenk and another waiting period.

you don't want a custom logo on the brander. Buyer disclosure: if you purchase this brander (just under $80) you have four options for the actual head piece. All of these options are text only. If you want an image/logo for the brander you have to pay an additional $230. This information though is not disclosed to you at the time of the purchase. After you purchase the brander you get it in the mail along with a card that gives you the four text options. If you want a custom logo you have to call their 800 number and its only then, after specifically asking for the price, that you realize you'll be paying around $300 (brander + custom logo) for a custom electric brander.

So be warned, the font is a bit ugly and there's no options... Wall Lenk, have you thought about the font 'Garamond' or something classy like that?The size was a bit larger than I wanted since I make small boxes, but it's better than nothing for sure.Everything works well, however it takes some getting used to, so do about 100 practice burns before the real deal!
