The BEST bar tape (according to me and my system of rating bar tape)
Reasons to judge Bar Tape: Colors & ComfortCOLORS: There are many to choose from and they are beautiful. Really beautiful. But they do fade. You may not like that. I love it when they fade. I encourage you to do the same. It adds character. Even with some shellac you will see fading. Shellac will change the colors too. Even clear shellac will make the tape very dark at first, but it dries pretty close to the original. Amber shellac obviously yields an amber tint. Also, the more coats, the darker it gets.COMFORT: Here's where I was sold on Newbaum's. It's the most comfortable tape I've used. If you want a thinner feel, single wrap your bars (2 rolls for drop bars) If you want a thicker feeling bar with a bit of cushion, then definitely double wrap (probably takes 4 rolls to make it happen on drop bars). If you shellac your bars, the feeling of the tape will change at first, but eventually it wears into a great feeling handlebar. So don't be too quick to cast judgement on your recent shellac decision. Give it some miles and you will appreciate it.

actually game changing comfort, color fades super fast
this bar tape rockss! i bike year-round, but in the summer, in the heat, i absolutely hate the feel of a plasticy or synthetic spongey texture on my palms. this newbaum's tape is super comfortable, won't make your hands sweat and won't be uncomfortable if they do! it's thin, grips tight to the handlebars and adheared really well off the bat. definitely need one roll for each bar!*UPDATE* i've had this bar tape on for only about a week and a half, and already the color has faded drastically. assuming it's from the sun, but happened almost overnight and changed the color from black to a coppery brown. still incredibly comfortable, but if you're stringent on style, this is not something with lasting looks.

This tape is good, but you might need to buy two.
The tape works well to fix up my old ranger's rubberized plastic steering wheel. It looks good, feels good, and sticks perfectly. But if you are buying this for a steering wheel, you'll likely need two to cover the whole wheel. Factor that in to any purchase for that purpose. I had to learn that the hard way.

Not Color Fast*
*EDITAs of the original writing, I had no idea this tape needed to be shellacked. Due to some other reviewers' comments, I'm changing my rating up to three. I will give it a four if the seller mentions its need for shellacking in the product profile./EDITI had high hopes for this bar tape to be paired with red tape, and harlequin wrapped onto my girlfriend's commuter. The tape was relatively easy to work onto the bars, the feeling of cotton soft to the touch and ever so slightly shock absorbent. When I installed it, the color was rich an saturated and made for striking visual addition with the red tape. Unfortunately, within three months of occasional use and mostly shaded storage, the two tapes faded faster than Chumbawamba's musical career. The red became a desaturated mauve, and the black somewhat of a taupe. Perhaps I should have urethane varnished them, but then, what would be the point of cloth tape if one coats it with plastic? I give it four stars for feeling and ease of installation, and a weighted one star for color fastness. Because, well, the point of buying a silly colored thing, say, instead of a plain black thing is you want something COLORFUL to look at.Pros:Soft, luxurious feelTerrific initial color saturationSticky backing is helpfulCons:Not color fastBottom line:Nice tape, I would buy it again. As an aside, I caught a big black carpenter bee eating the tape the other day. Mmm, sweaty handlebar tape. Weird.

Peloton Bike Handle Bars
Okay so I purchased by Peloton bike about a year ago and my hands would go to sleep against the standard bars. So I bought some pipe insulation and having been a Road Bike rider for a very long time, I Went to what I Knew would work to wrap the insulation in, yep, Newbaum's Cloth Bar Tape. It works great and it has taken about 7 rolls to cover the entire area, and now no more sleepy hands. The Tape last about 8 months then the sweat starts getting to it, but I just caught off the loose ends and keep going, so I am about 8 month into it and it is still holding great.I Highly recommend this tape for Road or Peloton!

⭐️ Solid Grip, Comfortable & Durable. ⭐️
I have found this to be a good bar tape overall. I have used it on both of my bikes. It is not as soft as cork tape, but it can be made spongier by double wrapping your bars. Solid grip, and no gross plastic chemicals seeping into your hands. [ASIN:B003BSU11Q Newbaum's Cloth Bar Tape, Black]] Initially, it took a roll and a half to wrap each of my bikes, but if you like yours a bit more padded, as I do, it will take twice that to do the job right. I used 3 rolls on each bike and am really pleased with the level of comfort.🌐 OVERALL: Really pleased with the way it looks and performs. It's durable and lasts well. If you have any questions leave them in the comments and I will be happy to answer.

Easy
Just installed it on my vintage 1980 Fuji. Make sure you put a small pad of tape on each side of the brakes before you begin the wrap. The tape went on very easily with enough tape to spare. There was enough tape to use double layers over wrap on the horizontal portion of the handlebars. Look for a video on how to use twine to finish the wrap at the middle of the handlebars. It adds a nice finishing touch.
