SkyTech Millivolt Wireless On/Off with Thermostat Remote and Receiver - 1001TH-A

I originally ordered one for my cabin and eventually got tired of the other brand causung issues so I ordered another! Easy set up, just make sure you use fresh batteries it does make a huge difference.

PERFECT. Was replacing older Skytech remote that broke and this is just what I wanted. Did not need programmable Thermo Mode for each day of the week. This was less than half the cost.1. Paired on 1st try in 3 seconds2. Works great super simple.3. Can use it to come on at set temp. needs4. Did not have to swap my existing receiver, so now I have a new back up as well!5. I've seen comments about selecting the temp you want. You just hold down and wait for it to get to your desired degree, if you missed it you have to "go around the horn again" but it is quick. Like 2-3seconds.Would buy it again in a second.

For years I have wanted to have a remote for our propane fireplace. Probably every 4 months I would look at them on line, but when I saw the wiring diagram I just tuned out. Finally I actually looked at how to hook it up, looked at my fireplace electronics and ordered this. Took 10 seconds, if that to install, 2 wires to basically plug in for me. I even tried hooking it up to the thermostat wires to the wall thermostat thinking that I might put the unit in the wall. Worked fine there as well. So for right now it sits at the fireplace, small black box in the picture. I use the remote for turning it off and on while we are in the room. I use the wall thermostat to set temperature for overnight.

Product installed and worked as it should. The on/remote/off box is not what is pictured. It appears to be a bit more cheaply made than the one pictured which is the same as the one I replace. The question is will it last as long as the previous one (and the one pictured…).

We bought this because the switch for our gas fireplace is located in a difficult-to-reach spot in a far corner of our living room. Installation was very easy and only took a few minutes! It works perfectly and we use our fireplace a lot more often now. Wish I had done this sooner!

Installed on all three fireplaces...very happy with the results. We have very energy efficient fireplaces (rated as heating appliances vs ambiance even though very pretty). We save money heating our house with the fireplaces vs the furnace. Having thermostats makes this a no-brainer. Having the option to warm a given room or part of the house a little or allowing an area to cool off if not being used just makes good sense. Very simple to implement and use. To aid this we removed the loud, howling squirrel-cage fans and replaced them with four muffin fans. Quiet, less expensive, move plenty of air. Quieter than the furnace too!

This is the exact remote we found at a "fireplace" store for 1/4 the cost. It didn't specify a Jotul natural gas freestanding stove, but it works great.

After replacing my 5 year old, nonworking “Ambient” brand remote, with another “Ambient” remote, the new one worked intermittently until failing completely. Within 2 months. Luckily for me it happened within the return period. I searched for a replacement and found the SkyTech remote, and it was $35 less than the faulty one I returned. I’ve only had it for a month, but so far it has worked perfectly. I got the thermostat control in case of a power outage or a furnace problem, but I really only use the on/off function. Basically to warm things up when needed. The 2 wire installation was as easy as it gets. Connect to the TH terminals on the gas control valve. As far as longevity, time will tell, but all is well for now.
