Great for small debris that skimmer can’t get
Works great for the small debris (bugs and pollen) and micro debris too small for net. Works “okay” for larger debris though skimmer is arguably better. Keeps the surface looking clean and fresh by sucking stuff that the skimmer leaves behind.Phoenix, walking pool, 40’x14’x5’, poolvac xl, 2300 rpm pump.

Cheaply made and no customer service
The idea is good, bit it is made with cheap low quality parts. for starters, the hose gets brittle within a few months. I think it is made out of nylon which doesn't do good under a lot of direct sunlight (try leaving a grocery store plastic bag in the sun and see how long it takes for it to start de coloring) . The floats break off eventually. The company tries to nickle and dime you buying low quality replacement parts. I contacted customer service one time and was ignored, so I started 3d printing my own floats. A friend of mine gave some hose that works perfect with it, and with the parts I built I have kept it running for a while. I still use it because It does a pretty good job at keeping my pool's surface clean, but the only part I still use is the acrylic base. Everything else I've made my own, otherwise by now I would've spent three times its original cost in replacement parts.

Simple, Well-Made, and Effective
This is a great device to provide strong, effective skimming of an inground swimming pool. I live in Southern Florida and in the Spring, after a strong rain, the surface of our backyard pool will be covered with thousands of small flying insects (gnats?). Almost all of them float on the surface, so they don't go through the floor drain. I can spend a good hour with the skim net, slowly walking back and forth scooping up these bugs, and even then there will be lots I missed. The pool skimmers built into the sides of the pool don't generate enough water movement to cause the floating bugs to enter the skimmer and get sucked into the filter.I reviewed available add-on skimmers and selected the SkimmerMotion as being the best candidate. It's a simple design and doesn't require modification to my pool or pump system. And the reviews led me to believe this might work for me. In addition, this product is labeled as Made in the USA, and that carries a lot of weight in my decision-making process. The device comes packed well, in a sturdy box that stood up to the USPS system. The floating head unit is well-made of thick durable plastic. The quality of the design and manufacturing is evident; it's a substantial unit that should hold up to years of use. A corrugated white plastic tube connects to the underside of the head unit. The tube has a T-joint at the other end which connects to your pool cleaning robot. I have a Pentair Kreepy Krawly Great White which has a socket for connecting the cleaning hose to the inlet inside the pool's skimmer housing; that socket has a suction adjustment that allows me to dial up or down the suction going to the Great White.I have connected the SkimmerMotion two different ways: 1) Following the SkimmerMotion instructions, I connected the T-joint to the Great White's hose and let the Great White pull the SkimmerMotion around the pool. That worked well, since I only had to adjust the socket inside the skimmer housing to get the proper distribution of suction between the Great White and the SkimmerMotion. Easily attached and easily adjusted. 2) To use the SkimmerMotion without the Great White, I stuck the T-joint directly into the socket inside the skimmer housing and plugged the open end of the T-joint with a golf ball. The SkimmerMotion was in the pool by itself and the suction adjustment is still available via the socket. In both configurations the SkimmerMotion worked exactly as advertised. The bugs get pulled in from several inches away, and go down the tube and on to the pool filter.I will be recommending this to my friends and neighbors. It does the job!The only reason for four stars rather than five is the price. Like most other swimming pool accessories, this costs more than it should.

Best thing ever created.
If I could rate this item 10 stars, I most certainly would. An older pool w/1 skimmer basket and I use a Kreepy “knockoff”; which uses the only suction from my skimmer. Before this item, I could only vacuum the pool with my cleaner, but this device ADDS the ability to have a “floating skimmer” to your pool.10 mins of run time and the surface of my pool is debris free.Going on 2+ years and it is maintenance free.Highly, HIGHLY recommend!!

Great in theory, but failed in my 1 suction/1 return pool. Also disconnected from vacuum.
I can see how this *would* work in the right conditions. In our pool -- built in the 50s and still sporting ye olde 1 skimmer/1 return port technology -- it failed miserably. I could see the surface collection happening, but it never got to the bulk of the debris, which all tends to gather on one end of the pool when the pump is running (see: 50s technology). The primary problem that prevented it moving down there was the vacuum hose being in the way, which the Skimmer Motion didn't seem to be able to get past -- it did tangle. Secondly, the fit between the adapter and the pool cleaner (a Hayward Phoenix, which is a re-brand of Poolvergnuegen's The Pool Cleaner) was so weak that it disconnected from the cleaner twice in 8 hours. Thank goodness I heard the pump sucking air, is all I can say... o_OLastly -- not a review of performance, but economics -- as I logged back in to start the return, I noticed that this item is available about 40% cheaper without Prime, even if you have to pay shipping. I realize Prime bumps the cost of most things, don't get me wrong -- but this is a little insane, and shame on whoever's making that call. Further -- even at the lower price point, it seems high. I am willing to pay for ingenuity and innovation, no problem, but after a look at the cheap hose and all-plastic components? I can't imagine these things are being turned out for any more than $5 a pop... $60-$100 kind of blows my mind.)That all said... it's worth it if you never have to skim again. I, sadly, need to keep looking for a solution.
