Make sure your system has a SCSI control unit (SCU). This came built in on my Lenovo Thinksatation S30. You have to go into BIOS and make sure the SCU ports are enabled. In the S30 the SCU ports look just like and are in fact Sata ports. The S30 has 3 ports. You can connect both SATA HDD and SAS HDD to these 3 ports if SCU is enabled in BIOS. I used this Golitan cable and it worked great for a 2TB Toshiba SAS HDD at 7200 rpm. I am using Linux Mint OS.

I have 2 NAS servers both with built-in SAS controllers and 8 SAS ports via SATA connectors on the motherboard and these cables worked perfectly. You can't just plug a SAS drive into a SATA port and expect it to work, you need a SAS controller!The only note I will make is, depending on your hard drive, you may need a Molex to SATA power adapter. Some SAS drives will not power on due to the pin out of the PSU's SATA power cables (pin 3 being power disable and having a 3.3V on it prevents the drive from starting). The adapter only passes the 5V and 12V, thus letting the SAS drive power on.

I like this cord very much! It really works with an SAS compatible hard drive! Quite a difference in post times, and we're not just shaving a little time off in nanoseconds. It's a very good buy and not expensive at all. Easy to install and it works very well.

Does what it's meant to do for those with SAS ports on their motherboards that use SATA connectors. Just be prepared to either perform the "3.3V Mod" using some kapton tape on the drive's 3.3V pin or get a good quality Molex-to-SATA power adapter that's missing the 3.3V wire, otherwise your drive will never power on!

These are good cables and quality, but you cannot use these to connect sas drive to sata ports. Sata drives are compatible with sas controllers but sas drives are cot compatible with sata contollers. Still do not understand why anyone would bother to make these, waste of money

I bought this product to connect a SAS drive to my Windows 10 PC. I was aware of numerous negative reviews about this product but then saw the same number of positive reviews. The product did not work for me at all which leads me to conclude that it's not worth the risk to buy it since the quality is not consistent.

I don’t know if I just didn’t read or if it wasn’t in the description but I never saw that you had to have a specific motherboard for this to be compatible. If the product would have worked as I intended it to this would have been great. The build quality was solid and it was easy to hook up to my SAS drives but unfortunately my motherboard didn’t support this adapter. If you have a compatible motherboard then this product is great.
