Never Let Another Doctor Tell You That Insomnia is a Fact of Life
I started taking these supplements based on an article about insomnia out of Johns Hopkins, a chapter on insomnia from Power Juices Super Drinks by Steve Meyerowitz, and some customer reviews on this site. I take this product along with GABA, L-Tyrosine, L-Tryptophan. I also take 5-HTP. However, it is a form of Trytophan, which I think you can leave off. (I will post this same review on those product pages.)For a decade plus, I have struggled with insomnia and accompanying fatigue and anxiety. Over the past several years, I have done numerous sleep studies and have pleaded with my doctors for help only to be told that insomnia is something with which I must live even in the face of diminished mental functioning. I’ve tried all the natural sleep remedies such as Valerian Root and melatonin with no success. I’m currently on an anti-depressant Remeron, which while it helps me sleep and stay asleep, I am not getting quality sleep. I no longer dream, and if I do, I cannot see or remember my dreams when I wake up. While asleep, my dreams appears in B&W so dim that I can only make out the outline of images.A new development in my insomnia is driving-while-drowsy, which only happens when I get behind the wheel which is a lot living in Los Angeles and working in catering and events. Almost immediately, I begin to get drowsy and my eyelids become heavy. Knowing what is happening, I immediately take actions such as rolling down all of my windows and slapping my face to stay awake. As I’m driving, eventually, the back of my neck starts to hurt and I get a mild headache because my brain is signaling my body that it need to shut down. (Now if I were to get off the freeway and pull over to the side of the road to take a quick cap my drowsiness goes away.) It was at that point that I realized I might be dealing with something neurological, which is where L-Tryptophan comes in.For the past six months, I have been taking L-Tryptophan, GABA and L-Tyrosine three times a day, and one 5HTP capsule at bedtime. The quality of my sleep, my overall neural functioning, my stress and my anxiety have come full circle. I am no longer experiencing drowsiness while driving, and my overall mental functioning, stress levels and anxiety have disappeared. (GABA and L-Tyrosine are both neurotransmitter support.)If you’re struggling with insomnia, I cannot recommend these three supplements enough. Had I not refused to believe that insomnia was something with which I would just have to live, I might never have found these products. Before taking any over the counter medication, I always try to find a natural supplement to address whatever health issues I’m dealing with rather than going the pharmaceutical route. A lifesaver for SSRI withdrawals!
I have Fibromyalgia and my doctor put me on Citalopram (Celexa) for anxiety. Big mistake! My pain gradually increased on Citalopram and after about three weeks I decided to get off this medication. My doctor said that this medication was non-addictive and that I could just go off. Wrong! I tapered in 4 days. My pain doubled.I went back to my doctor and told him how bad I was doing. He just wrote it off to my Fibromyalgia or me just seeking more narcotics. I was absolutely desperate. He offered me a higher dose of Citalopram. Whaaaaaaaaaaat?I knew that he was going to be absolutely no help at all. I looked online and saw how 5- HTP and L-Tryptophan help with withdrawals from Citralopram and other SSRIs. You may have to take a much higher dose than it says on the bottle and carefully up the dose until your withdrawal symptoms disappear. Then, gradually decrease your dose after a few months, once your body starts regulating serotonin again. I may buy the book just to show my appreciation. My Citalopram withdrawal symptoms after only 3 weeks on this awful "medication" were; severe muscle pain; especially in my neck, upper back, and chest, pain in my arms, legs, feet, and hands, severe abdominal pain with diarrhea. Also, worse anxiety than I've ever experienced in my life. These are due to your body's own natural serotonin regulation being bypassed and turned off. There are many other horrible symptoms that you may experience.Your body takes a few months, from what I've read, to fix itself.I like this L-Tryptophan better than 5-HTP because I only have to take it every 6 hours instead of every few with 5-HTP for SSRI withdrawals. If you've been on an SSRI for longer than a few weeks, you might want to taper more slowly, and follow the directions on the website that I posted. I needed to get off Citalopram ASAP due to the severe worsening of my Fibromyalgia and I was only on it for 3 weeks, so I tapered more quickly.If you are on this product for SSRI withdrawals, your symptoms will disappear after 24 to 48 hours of the proper dose of L-Tryptophan.This product is a life saver! Literally!

It works!!!?
For the first time ever, I can’t wait to write a review. I’ve only been taking these for a week and I stopped taking melatonin and trazodone for sleep. I sleep eight hours and they work like prescription medications and I feel great the day after not groggy and happy because I had a Restful sleep. Lifesavers!!
