Q: The unit works best when fully submerged. How do I make it work with an extension hose in the intake please ?

You don't, it's not designed for that, and nowhere near powerful enough. Mine failed after a few weeks

Anything between 3 and 6 amp will do its only to protect the cable which is. 75 or 1mm... and shouldn't drain your battery when its not running its not pulling any power..... I have mine to fill my coffee machine in the back of my van and works a treat, just got mine via cigarette lighter

i do not use a transformer with this pump i connected it up directly to a 12vlt car battery

This is a 12v plug so if u want to plug it in u Nedd to convert the power comming out your socket to 12v using an adapter then you can wire the 12v side of the adapter to the pump
