Q: What is the length for size l and xl ?

You never know! Lengths seem to vary not only from 1 pair to the next, but from 1 leg to the other. I have 2 pairs. 1 pair is 30" & the other has 1 leg 33" & the other is 36".

Q: size chart is confusing, are these "Sweatpants" or "Thermowool"? They have different sizes for the same measurments.

I didn't find any difference in length as a function of waist size,, no matter what it says. As to sizes specified, pick the waist size that seems closest for you since all are far from exact. The drawstring helps some. The sizes are very rough. If it helps, I returned the Large for X-Large and I had about a 38 inch waist and am 5' 9'. Large was a tad too tight, not by a lot, just enough to bother me. Then, of course, they were too long but what I found is X-large and Large were exactly the same length no matter what it says. Then, frustrated, I washed in hot wash, since I liked the feel, and Wow, they shrunk in length by over two inches which made them perfect for me, Go figure. If you are in my ballpark height, the wash will shrink them probably to right length BUT if you are a lot taller and need the length, the shrinkage could be a problem . If the waist by length is a problem for you, you might want to check out sweatpants with the band around the leg that keep the pants up, which makes length less important. These just hang open at the ends. P.S. sorry I don't know the difference between sweatpants or thermowool but I'd say the key thing to remember is they shrink in length with a wash and sizes are a bit of a crap shoot, be ready to return for another waist size, just pick the waist size that seems closest and go from there.

I'm around 6'1", purchased the XL ones and they were plenty long for me but probably would be a stretch for 6'5".

Yes, the bottoms are open. They are a straight-leg pant with no elastic.

Oatmeal fabric thinner than others. Also, color not as pictured.

2.5 stars for this particular colorway. I own the charcoal pair of these and they are softer and a little more substantial (slightly thicker) feeling. These are also not as pictured. They are much lighter in color than "Oatmeal" and are more of a cream color. The positives are that they fit to size just like my other pair and are still fairly comfortable though not as much as the other pair.
