Play All Day Games Senet The Ancient Egyptian Game

Wow, this is about a 5,000 year old game, with about 10,000 years of Egpytian themed 'mythology'. Beautiful set. Game pieces smartly enclosed inside the slide in/out drawer within the game board itself. Great for travel and play for the beach or park (maybe also with a drawstring sac to protect the board with the ornate outer heiroglyphs). I Love the dark green and ivory color pieces. With the four counting sticks. A die, if you don't want to use the sticks. I read that using the traditional sticks are a better game, but more effort to 'roll'. Many versions of playing, some sets even use 5 counting sticks. There are two players. The object of this game, is to Die first. With no more of your pieces left on the board. The price is great @$25. For a substantial, handsome wooden box board game. Totally worth it, if your into games or just want to complete your game closet. This is an interesting one. A conversational item for sure. I might have to dovetail the concept of this game, to fit my Christian parameters though.

The game was well made with interesting design. It is easy to learn. Using the sticks to determine the number of steps to take makes noises but gives more probabilities than using the dice. It is a good game for two persons. The rules are not complicated, but there are strategies involved. Stricter rules can be found online, which can make the game time longer. It can take half an hour to finish a game.

Is it the best quality game board? Lol absolutely not. Is the quality relative to the price? Lol still no. But is it one of the only available options? Yes. I imagine the pieces are somewhat unique too, so it's not amenable to greater production that would allow for a lower price. It serves it's purpose and is a fun game to place, especially if you like Backgammon.

My Senet game arrived today, over four days ahead of schedule (fast shipping is always appreciated!) It was well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. The board is sturdy and well made, and the pieces feel good in the hand. It's definitely a playing set but it would look nice as a conversation piece as well.As far as the instructions, I've read comments to the effect they are hard to follow. I think the problem is that most of those reviewers were trying to learn how to play for the first time with the provided booklet. It's a lot easier to start out with YouTube videos and online tutorials, and then use the provided rules as an alternate way of playing. They will make sense if you try to get some context before sitting down in front of the board for the first time :)My only complaint, if it could be called that, is that I wish the board came with 14 pieces instead of 10 to be able to play some of the their variants. I'm not sure if the seller offers additional loose pieces for sale.All in all, I am completely happy with the set and would buy more from this seller.

Senet is the oldest board game know (what I've read). It's a lot of fun. This board game is very nicely constructed and the pieces fit into a drawer in the box. It's an excellent "travel with" game.One thing - I would _highly_ recommend learning to play Senet from one of the many online games sites or a phone app. The rules are challenging at first. There are many different ways to play it. And the included instructions would not get you to complete a game.

Made of very thin craft wood that feels like it came from a dollar store. The paint job was okay though and all the pieces were included.

My favorite game. Because of the way the rules are constructed, you can be about to beat your opponent badly and suddenly find yourself set way back on the board--so it is suspenseful right up to the very end. The set is lightweight, but attractive. The other board I had (identical to this one) held up very well--the only reason I don't still have it is that I gave it to a playing partner who was moving away. The pieces store inside the board, so the whole set is very compact.
