Q: are these supposed to shrink? i ordered them and follow the washing instructions exactly. the size of each tower went from 16 x 28 to 12 x 22.

Quite a lot of shrinkage is natural for 100% cotton articles. Unless it says pre-shrunk, you need to figure shrinkage when you purchase any unshrunk cotton item. How much? Up to 20%, depending on processes used when creating the fabric. For example, natural, unbleached items will shrink more because they've never been washed and dried, but bleached or dyed items will shrink less because they've been washed and dried.

It’s yarn dyed woven design. Not printed.

Q: are these like a terry cloth or is it like the towel that. slides all over instead of soaking up the water?

100% cotton and absorbent! Attractive! Colorful Really like them, but they shrunk quite a bit after first washing down to 20 x 11.5 inchrs.
