Awesome
I just received this camera today and I have had previous experience with canon cameras for film class so I decided to buy my own personal camera. The camera came nicely secure in the packaging as well. Lens cover is included along with a battery with a plug in charger for the battery. There’s no SD card so you will have to buy that separately but other than that I think I got a pretty good deal for its price! So far, this camera works very well! It’s a bit tricky to navigate but luckily instructions also came. Although, I found myself playing around with the buttons for a while and was able to catch on quickly. The quality is decent. I will admit, the focus is a bit confusing to grasp but once I took some photos, I’d say they came out solid. Although, I do wish they appeared more clearer on the actual display. However, when I did download the pictures to my computer, they actually looked very clear through the screen so I suppose it just depends on how they are uploaded.Other than that, this camera is amazing and perfect for people who have an interest in photography or are just looking for a great camera to take cool pictures on. I’m very happy with this purchase!

As expected
Works just as expected. No issues. Great beginner camera. Yes does feel plastic, but it's the right price for someone new to photography.

Outstanding value for a fine-performing DSLR camera!
I have this camera (I didn't buy it from Amazon, but would have under differenct circumstances). Nevertheless, I've owned many Canon cameras, and I think that Canon represents the pinnacle of digital-imaging quality and value. I have a EOS 5D-Mark III, 6D, several PowerShot models, etc., and I've always been supremely happy with Canon. This little EOS Rebel T100 with 18-55 lens, quite inexpensive, is a truly remarkable value. The camera takes excellent images, has a great video feature, and can do about 90% of what any of the other much more expensive versions can do at a fraction of the cost. This is made possible by eliminating many of the fancy features of the more expensive versions. In short, the T100 (4000D) camera can do just about anything you could expect from a DSLR for general digital photography, and do it at a modest pricetag! It is easy to see why Canon simply dominates in the world of digital-imaging technology, and remains -- year-after-year -- the No. 1 company in digital-imaging sales worldwide. Canon also tops the durability/reliability ratings, too!

Great camera, but Walmart has this exact camera for cheaper (new!)
The camera is amazing, though it is a beginner camera it is very nice to use. The EOS Rebel T7 is better than the 4000D, with a better image and larger display, at the cost of 449.99. The Canon 4000D may be for beginners, but is still a great camera at a great price. It would be nice if you knew how to operate the camera with a video and the Autofocus is fast, but overall I'd suggest the T7 for just a meager $100 more.

Buyer’s remorse
I bought the Canon 4000D for astrophotography and the manual settings mode. Another reason I bought the 4000D was that it is advertised as being the smallest in the EOS line and without many of the bells & whistles that I would never use anyway. You can’t set the exposures beyond 30 seconds without going into bulb mode. Then you can keep the shutter open as long as you want, but you have to physically hold down the button. There’s no input jack or Bluetooth for a remote shutter release, instead it has WiFi. The WiFi capabilities are tenuous. Navigating around in manual mode adjusting the settings was tedious guesswork, despite purchasing an online user’s guide for the 4000D. I guess it’s okay for a beginner’s camera but they’ll be a lot better off with a smartphone camera.Update: I changed the 3 Star to a 1 star because it failed against my iPhone SE phone camera tonight when it really counted. Was shooting pics with the Canon attached to the telescope. The pics of the Andromeda Galaxy were about the same as the iPhone’s - both pretty bad. But the pics of the Orion Nebula were shockingly inferior using the Canon. With the iPhone they are at least passable. The Pleiades - a fail with the Canon. Acceptable with the iPhone. I worked with it too. The ISO, aperture speed, etc. Stupidly I discarded the box when I got a camera case for it. But whatever, it’s in the trash can in the kitchen now. Going to buy a camera for a Christmas gift? Why? The cameras on smart phones are way better.

Canon Rebel T100 Lens
I needed a decent camera to keep on my boat, and this little Rebel T100 looked like a good candidate. The Rebel's body and camera features are A-OK, but the "kit lens" that comes with the T100 is a joke.Cheap, flimsy, light-weight (feels like all plastic and no glass), and the picture quality using this lens is miserable. I immediately ordered a Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II SLR Lens as a replacement, and this kit lens can serve as a paperweight. Hopefully the upgraded glass will produce the images I want.
