Q: I live on an island close to the sea and we get 'salt air'. Would the finish on the sax hold up? I have another brand for my son and it tarnished.

The greatest assault on your shinny new and brilliantly platted sax is the acidity of your sweaty hands/fingers, plus the saliva that dumps out of your horn after playing hard for a few hours. Played in bands of all types for many years and I remember gigging with my beloved Mark VI Selmer and 70% of the platting was gone in about a year. So - wipe it down thoroughly before you put it back in its case (each time you play it. Also swab out the inside with your rag-on-a-string at the same time. Remember it's not how it looks, it's how it plays and sounds. Have fun! - Jerry
