costumebase Scarab Ring Beetle Boris Karloff Imhotep the Mummy Egyptian Props

This ring, has FAR surpassed my expectations!!! It's a bit heavy, BUT for as big and as hardily made as it is, I would expect nothing less. Just be prepared for a GIANT statement ring...I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!

This replica of the ring worn by Boris Karloff in the Classic Universal horror film THE MUMMY is impressive. One can imagine the power of Imhotep's curse emanating from the detailed scarab! The price and quality of this replica will delight and/or frighten any classic horror film fan. However, this ring could also satisfy anyone seeking a nice piece of ancient Egyptian themed costume jewelry.

Stone is not real though!

It’s not easy to tell in the photos I added but the ring I received does not have a black stone but some kind of poured epoxy. The photos on the listing very clearly show a black stone inlay and not this plastic looking poured substance. It lays in a way that makes the ring look bent and off shape. If it was a stone that was actually 3D it would look so much better as the ring is obviously designed for the stone not this flat substance. Also I know it has a soft distressed look but the distressing warped some of the finer details, it looks nothing like the listing photos close up. The details are uneven and the shape of the is completely warped and uneven. All this combined, the ring does not look good and certainly doesn’t look like the product photos. Misshapen and bent up. I would not recommend. I am completely bummed however because I am an avid fan of The Mummy (1932/1999). Out of all the universal monster movies it has my heart and I was overjoyed to receive this replica ring. Disappointed to say the least.

I would give it 4 if it weren’t for the cheap presentation of the “stone”. It looks like they placed something into the slot and poured some black glossy liquid resin of some sort over it. It’s a fun piece, but quality seems lacking. It feels heavy and sturdy though, so 3 stars seems appropriate. I really wish the black stone was a genuine stone of some sort and not what it turned out to be.

Love this replica! It is a heavy ring but since it is a replica of the original one worn in the 1932 movie and designed for a man I expected that. The Egyptian influenced Art Nouveau style is replicated perfect. If you plan on wearing it make sure you order a size that fits whatever finger you intend to wear it on, otherwise if you just want a beautiful display piece the original ring size was a US Men's size 13 (if I remember correctly).

The Scarab Ring Beetle Boris Karloff Imhotep is rather oversized, from a bygone era, for a modern man so its ornateness lends itself more for an up to date woman's taste and appearance. On the other hand, the Scarab Beetle ring is made of solid brass construction and should ware for a long time.
