The media could not be loaded. The day I took this video, we couldn't stop watching our koi fountain with floating mum. The solar panel is taped to the side rail of our deck receiving maximum sun. Notice how the fountain peters out at the end due to the panel not getting full sun (too bad the lawnmower and insect chorus drowned out the tranquil water sounds).We ordered two of these beautiful cobalt blue fountains, and the first arrived with minor blemishes (pockmarks) in the bowl--not worth returning. The second one arrived in perfect condition. We have had the first fountain almost a year now, and it works perfectly as described--with the panel in DIRECT sunlight. Direct sunlight means that nothing can be shading more than a tiny section of the solar panel, and with lower sun angles the solar panel needs to be angled toward the sun. So it's up to you to determine the best place to either permanently place the panel for maximum fountain hours, or to reposition it with the moving sun (earth).We get 4.5 hours of fountain on a sunny day during the summer (the first .5 hour of that is more of a gurgle before it gets to full-stream). On hazy days, we get less than a full stream to nothing at all. If a tiny portion of the panel is shaded by a blowing tree, it goes down to a gurgle. It's beautiful with the fountain going, and it's still pretty as just a birdbath. Many reviewers describe it as small, but we bought ours to double as a bird bath. It's almost as big as a typical-sized birdbath, and if you fill it to the brim (which you should if you have the fountain running for several hours/day under the sun), it's actually too deep for smaller birds. Our birds usually use it when we're not watching, as they can see us (and the kitty) through the window. We also caught a squirrel taking a sip.In the fall and winter, we ran it inside the house for about 1 hour/day so our part-Coonie kitty could play in the fountain and dunk his toys.

The fountain arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The blue glaze is beautiful. Assembly is a snap. Read other reviews about needing to add a flexible tube. Not true. The small pump/filter mechanism fits exactly as described and does not lower spout power. Keep in mind, product works only in FULL sun. It does not contain a rechargeable battery, so it only works when the sun is out. Overcast, shadows over the solar panel or cloudy skies may keep it from running, but works wonderfully in full sun as described. The only down side and this is NOT a fault of manufacturing is that you may need to top it off daily as the bowl only holds 1.5 gallons. When it's really hot out, the water can evaporate pretty quickly. We just keep a gallon of water handy and I top it off everyday. It's small enough to add a touch of elegance or water feature to any area, but big enough to earn compliments! Well worth the price to add something beautiful to my flower garden.

I ordered this fountain to use as a birdbath and fresh water source for my backyard critters. The first one I received was poorly finished and the fish didn't fit as tightly. I contacted them for a replacement, which came by the next day! The exchange was easy! All I had to do was repackage the old one and leave it for UPS to pick it up at no charge. Both fountains were packaged securely and there were no broken or missing parts. Quality of second fountain was better and the blue is as represented in the picture. It is a gorgeous shade of cobalt blue! It was easy to put together and the directions were clear. The pump and solar pad are working well. Probably would be enjoyed best by those who live in sunny and not frequently overcast areas because it needs direct sun. A fantastic upgrade would be to add a battery that could store the solar energy for use when it gets dark or cloudy. Since it is not a large or deep fountain, I do have to check that it is filled, but that keeps the water fresh for the animals too. It makes a pleasing, soft sound. It's best to rinse it out with the hose as you can get under the lip of the scalloped edge. I wipe any remaining debris up with a paper towel and refil with fresh water. It is not too heavy to pick up and turn upside down...just remember to disconnect the pump first. I am enjoying my new fountain. I have seen a bird drink from it (there is a nice edge for them to perch on), but haven't witnessed any bathing yet. I hope it lasts for many years! Customer service was outstanding as well.
