The Best. Trusted Dates. Food made for XMRE.
Bought these for emergency or camping. I dont care what they taste like and haven't opened one. I watched a few youtube videos first so I knew what I was getting. Why it gets 5 stars is because the date of packaging and production date is on the box and individual packaging, has lot numbers and has the full content of each package on the mre unit. I have used MRE units for decades. The problem is that there is lots of old unverifyable stuff floating around amazon and ebay. Im not going to take a chance on dates or storage. Do you want MRE's that sat out In the sun from Katrina or worse. I dont. This is a fairly new company that is making a solid civilian product. Why buy Mountan house packets with 300 calories when you can buy these which are 1200. No more mystery MRE for me. This is my new supplier. When you're hungry taste dont matter, but reviews say they arent bad. Not as tasty as mountain house lasagna, but compare the nutrients for an emergency or survival situation.

These MREs are 9 out of 10.
UPDATE: After a little shy of 2 years of storage the only issue I have had with these is the coffee. In 3 of 6 I have used the coffee has been dry molded and un-usable. BUT, everything else is in great shape and still tastes great. The few coffees being bad is no reason not to buy these.I have nothing but good things to say. The packaging was good. I received it on August 11th, 2020 with a pack date of June 25th, 2020. Can't ask for much fresher than that. Should get full shelf life. The flameless heater is great. The flavor/taste of everything was great. I tried the Cheese Tortellini first (pictured). It was very good and the heater worked perfectly for the entree and the apples. The bread with the jalapeño spread was really good. The only thing that was not great was the coffee. It was good, but not great like everything else. All of these items are far superior to any canned version.

Could use a better selection of meals.
Excellent quality. Great packaging and labeling. Not a very good selection. I got 6 meal types, 2 of each and 3 of the meal types (6 meals) were vegetarian.

Best MRE's I've had, and I've had plenty!
I've gone through a LOT of MRE's over the years and I've found these to be the best I've come across as far as flavor and quality. If I had to compare these to anything you can buy in a store, it would be close to a TV Dinner or Chef Boyardee. For a meal that lasts for 5 years without refrigeration, that's saying something! They've come in handy on a number of occasions.Ordered last year for a camping trip. I was in a rush to get these shipped out to me, contacted the seller and they were incredibly helpful. The shipment got sent out almost immediately! I recently had one that'd been sitting in my car through all of last summer, the winter, and this summer again (105°F to -5°F to 105°F) and it still tasted great.

No heaters
After carefully reading the description before purchasing, it says there IS a heater in each pack....there are even picture. This is why i chose this product over others. However when i received this the first one i opened did NOT have a heater inside to cook the food. Wondering if it was just a fluke, i proceeded to open the others and realized there isnt a heater pack in ANY of them!!!! I am very disappointed and will not be purchasing this product again. It was certainly a wasted $140!!!! NOT worth that much without the heaters.

Menu 1 Has My Approval
I tried Menu 1 the Mexican chicken Stew. It was good, really good. Better than canned stew and one step down from homemade. I do not mind this as a dinner. Low salt taste, I like and my stomach is doing well. The bread was good, but the peanut butter made it a real tasty snack.I have not yet tried the oatmeal chocolate cookie thing.Heater worked perfectly. Here is my picky reviewChicken was slightly tougher than freshly cooked chicken.Thats all Ive got. The sauce was well mixed and flavored with seasoning. The corn was cooked very well where it was not too hard or soft. The bellpepper was cooked well.Perfect amount of salt. (I dont like salt taste)I really want to criticise this meal but I cant.I mean it when I said one step down from home made. Why not perfect? Its in a package preserved. This will last for years, it is perfectly acceptable as it is.On xmres website I am customizing mine and this is in it.Thank you for reading, this is a worthy product.

Good, but too many nuts
The main dishes, beverage powders and desserts are standard MRE fare, packaged just the same. But the "side" dish is just a bag of seeds or nuts in 75% of the packages. Corn nuts or sunflower seeds might be alright at first, and might be calorie-dense, but man are they unsatisfying. You might've found one in a dozen surplus MRE's, but in these, almost every single package has a package nuts of some kind.I got a package of blue lines and a package of regular XMRE, they both suffer from this. Works alright if you're backpacking and need light food for a snack that you can eat while you're walking, but man is it disappointing if you're sitting down and trying to have a meal.

A significant improvement over standard military MRE’s.
These are a significant improvement over standard US military MRE’s (and currently, cheaper too). The ration heaters require more water (3-5oz) but they steam the entree’s in 3-5 minutes instead of 10-20 minutes like standard military MRE’s, and work in a large steamer bag that can heat multiple items up at the same time. No more lukewarm coffee! The food taste a little better and there are new menu items (like pizza, finally!). Also, they have more recent pack dates and will last longer. Other than these upgrades, the are pretty much the same as standard MRE’s. If given the choice, I’d take these.
