Strings have great punch and attack.
It is so hard to find heavy rated strings. I love the extra mass and resulting tension of heavy strings...makes for a much better attack and tone. For finger playing, the tighter tension really brings out the attach and punch, particularly when playing at the bridge pickup. This also tends to avoid a lot of fret "clicking" common with looser strings that flap all around with harder plucking. One can attack the strings pretty hard and they stay under control. I also found the heavy strings hold their tuning much better than lighter strings, as well as have much more consistent sustain. Light strings quickly lose volume when left ringing... These strings maintain volume for several seconds after the initial attack. For a long time I used DR heavy strings, but these are significantly cheaper and sound very consistent to DR strings.Pros:1. Super clean, refined tone,2. Brighter attack that cuts through the mix,3. More consistent volume, and maintains volume during sustain. If you don't use a compressor to regulate your volume, these strings help quite a bit,4. Just a better, deeper, punchier, more consistent tone when compared to light gauge strings.Cons:1. If you're are used to light gauge strings, you will have to get used to these. These higher tension strings require a harder stroke. You may experience some fatigue when first trying these, but the tonal advantages are well worth the effort of getting your fingers in better shape.

The strings for your stingray you didn’t know you needed
Do you have a stingray? Do you love the way the mids sit in a mix? Do you love the high end zing that only a stingray has? These strings are a match made in heaven. Using these on your stingray is like adding NOS to your engine. The voicing these strings add are just unbelievable. I’ve always used DR sunbeams for stingray basses but I think I’ve just found my new squeeze. Highly recommend these, give em a shot.

Don't know how I ever used anything else
These strings are absolutely awesome in every way! They are very smooth and add a brightness to your tone that is incredible if that is what your are looking for. Stainless steel strings really make you pop out in the mix and these are the best I've found. You won't be disappointed in these if you like cutting through and being heard! Very crisp and detailed sound. I use them on a medium scale Fender Aerodyne with no problems. I cut my strings to allow 2 to 3 wraps around my tuning pegs so these long scale strings fit fine on my medium scale bass. They fit perfectly fine and they add alot of bite to my sound which I love!

Extremely bright, feel ok, good for the money
The media could not be loaded. These are by far the best strings for your money if you cannot afford or don’t want to buy elixirs. The tone is extremely bright, metallicy, and dry. I wouldn’t say it’s versatile. But it does one thing pretty well, if you are into more aggressive, in your face kind of tone. The strings feel just about ok, not too rough. I would prefer them to be a bit more slick. But it’s just my preference. In terms of longevity, I don’t see how they can last more than a week or so. But it’s ok, given that they are not coated. Overall, I recommend them, unless you want something more high-end. It’s definitely an improvement over something like Rotosounds.

Pleaseantly surprised
I am not a fan of D'Addario strings for bass, but I am glad I listened to a couple reviews of these particular strings for drop tuning. I play in one band that uses Eb tuning for blues rock covers where I need to use a 5-string active Fender Jazz bass, again, not one of my preferred products (I mostly play Warwick and Ken Smith basses, which do not have the sound or look for this band's target market). I struggled with many different strings with higher tension from LaBella, Rotosound, Sadowsky, DR DDT, and Fodera. None set up well on this bass with playing tension or intonation consistency at the drop tuning. Flatwounds were the right tension, but the high end was just not sitting well in the mix. I changed the stock Fender bridge to a higher mass Hipshot A and the pickups to Reed James VVN Vintage Neo noiseless models with higher magnetic density than the original Fender Noiseless. Nothing seems to work. I bought these strings as a last resort prior to buying a new, custom jazz-style bass with 35" scale. I'm glad I did! They give enough tension at Eb tuning to have accurate intonation and feel. Not the best low B, but usable without being too un-focused or mushy. They also are not as bright as I expected after reading the product info. I do have back off the treble somewhat for this style of music, but not as much as some of the other steel string I tried, but more than nickel strings. I put these strings between, say, Pedulla or Warwick Black Label and above Rotosound Swing Bass Nickels. I would recommend these strings if you are detuning to Eb on a 34" scale bass and still need good playability and brighter strings than flatwounds. . I just bought 2 more sets as a backup.

Excellent choice, and super-bright tone for your bass guitar.
I had read several reviews, and talked to a few bassists that have, or are using these strings. I heard a lot of good about them, so I thought I'd give them a try on my B.C. Rich Innovator bass. They're an excellent set of strings! D'Addario strings are my favorite anyway, so these were just icing on the cake. I generally play with half round or chrome strings, as I like that mellow bass sound. But, these were really nice for my 36" Super Long scale. They have that super-bright sound, but can also cover the low-end, without being too "twangy". I have 3 basses (B.C. Rich Innovator, Yamaha TRBX304, and an Ibanez GSR205). I use D'Addario strings on all 3, as I play a variety of music (Classic Rock, Indie, Fusion, Country, and some Heavy Metal). These ProSteels are great for several styles of music, are smooth during slides, and are easy on the fingers of both hands. I also use Fast Fret to clean and lubricate the strings, adding to the ease of play. Overall, these are a top-notch string, and I will be buying them again. The price on Amazon is also a real deal, compared to my local guitar shops. I'd highly recommend that you try these strings.
