This is a great hardbound, two colors throughout, with a few small adventures, dozens of ready to use non-player characters, and random generation tables for NPCs and side quests. The material is well thought out and well written with the capacity to save GMs hours of work.

Got this for my DM boyfriend and he loves it. helps a lot with his campaign.

I just reviewed their Encounters book, but felt the need to add my props for this book as well. Just sitting and reading a few pages had me laughing and thinking how I can use the various people in my campaign. I mean one of the guys has a quest to cure his stinky breath, I would have never thought to add a character like that, but he'll be in my next adventure for sure. These books are amazing for DMs, but players shouldn't sleep on them either. Each of these NPCs could be adapted into a player concept in a heartbeat and give you an interesting background without the need to come up with it on the spot. They aren't charging enough for what you get, the binding, artwork, and text are all amazing, and at a fraction of the cost of the licensed stuff. I would happily pay more for this quality of book, and I've already pre-ordered their upcoming book.

This book recouped its value before I ever purchased it. When browsing the book, I opened to a random page in the middle, and read one of the NPCs described. I was immediately fascinated by the character, and introduced it to my next session. My players loved her, and she's quickly becoming a central part of the story. This book is now a corner stone of my games. There's always something really neat that I can find, that gets my creative juices flowing.For any interested, the character in question, is an 8 year-old girl who frequents a tavern in a large city. She drinks like a sailor, and has a bastard sword strapped to her belt that is as big as she is, and drags along the ground as she walks. She yearns to become an adventurer. The sword in question contains the soul of her father, a Death Knight, which is slowly corrupting her, draining her soul, so he can live again in the shell of his daughter's body. The girl is sweet, innocent, and excitable with a brightness in her eyes, that is replaced with an exuberant bloodlust in combat.

The book contains fleshed out NPCs with a brief description, a catch phrase, equipment, motivation, profession, and a secret desire. Some NPCs come with stat blocks. The names also come with nicknames.So very valuable to a DM prepping a game session. Not so good for the DM needing an NPC on the fly. The NPCs are so detailed that trying to drop one in at random, does not work. Their profession or motivation doesn't match the scene. You can adjust the NPCs quickly by changing their details and story but at that point you're creating your own NPC. The catagoration of the chapters is weird and some NPCs don't fit the section they're in.Still a great book for prepping. It's well worth the money. Just wanted to make sure people know the downside.

I ultimately ended up sending this back because I wasn't able to get a start on the project I purchased it for.The product itself is amazing though. It's filled with step-by-step instructions and tons of other amazing content. The quality of the construction is also very high quality. I even considered keeping it just because of the information inside.

I have to be honest - I don't know squat about this book. I can say that my D&D obsessed spouse got excited when he opened it, and I have seen him reading it and making notes several times.
