A costly love affair over?
After four years of use of what I thought was a great PSU, I started to get problems. Intermittently my PC would just power down. I didn't realise at first that it was the PSU, so I carried on, bewildered. Then I started to have trouble powering ON and I realised there may be something wrong with the PSU. I removed it and tested it according to Corsair advice (the usual paper clip test) and it passed the test. So then I attached a HDD to put it under some load. It still passed the test, which left me bewildered again.Back in my PC it functioned according to latter behaviour, back to intermittent power down and occasional refusal to power on. This for about a week. Then one day, I powered on my PC and:FIZZZ .... CRACKLE and then I see smoke. I switched the power off like a shot, but it was too late, SIX of my HDDs were destroyed in a single shot, the PCBs burnt out.I inspected the PSU and all the cabling, and beside the stench of burnt plastic, it all looks totally clean (from the outside, anyway). Out of my PC I tested the PSU again - it still passes the paper clip test - but I tell you this: I do NOT trust Corsair PSUs any more! I am not even going to bother going through the RMA process to get a replacement - I DON'T WANT ONE. There is no way I am going to risk the devastation of again losing all the drives with another Corsair PSU, the replacement cost of which came close to £2000 (including data recovery), especially when I read on the Corsair warranty site that replacements sent to you are merely refurbished from other customer returns! Nah. I'll buy new and else, thanks.I've bought many Corsair products, but with this disastrous PSU calamity and after the recent purchase of yet another Corsair case which I find to be rather cheap and nasty in comparison to the last one I bought, I think it's safe to say my love affair with Corsair is ... powering down.

Coil whine under the heavy load with Asus TUF 3080 12GB
It's nice, compact and silent PSU in any games.I tested with 2 different graphics cards: Gygabite 2080 8GB and ASUS TUF 3080 OC Edition 12GB.I used the same PC and same monitor, DELL Ultra HD monitor with resolution 3440x1440.It's work silent with RDR2, Death Stranding and Cyberpunk2077 on both cards. But starts generating a very annoying coil whine when working with 3080 in Unreal Editor 5, in City Demo especially. I am disappointed especially, because this coil whine happens on the load of 600W for this 1000W PSU. What is 60% of the maximum load only.I think the general problem of this PSU is non-digital control which can't handle properly the high end GPUs.I have this HX1000 replaced by BeQuiet! Dark Power Pro 1500 and have no coil whine at all.PRO:- compact;- modular;- silent;CONTRA:- coil whine on RTX 3080 OC card.

Worth the effort and the money
This power supply arrived today and I fitted it a few hours after I got it. It took about 30 minutes to fit. I used it to replace a 650w semi modular psu. This new unit is more powerful in preparation for a new graphics card and also to provide smoother power delivery for the whole system.Good:Very quiet, silent even as there's no fan movement at anything that I've used it for yet.As mentioned, smoother power delivery and sufficient supply for the system; water cooled CPU, 5 fans in total, 4 drives (NVME M2, SSD, 2 * hdd's), external sound card, etc..Sufficient power for a new RTX 2080 ti or something similar (currently GTX 980ti).Not so good:Has 'high quality' cables which have capacitors built in (type 4) which were replacing the older cables (type 3). These new cables are very hard to bend in places as the capacitors make them stiffer. The capacitors are a good thing except that it's difficult to get the cables to fit just how you want them to. The 8 pin power cable to the motherboard was particularly difficult to fit. In the end I unplugged it from the psu and fitted it to the motherboard then threaded it back to the psu.If I was buying another I might go for the HX850i or similar so that I could use the Corsair link software for monitoring and tweaking though I understand the HX850i comes with the older type 3 cables so might want to upgrade these. The prices of both HX850 and HX850i are similar (about £10 more for the HX850i).Very happy, easy enough to fit, silent running and would buy this or similar again.

Dead silent!
I bought this to replace my old Seasonic PSU which was getting a bit too noisy and so far it is doing a fantastic job. My primary reason for buying the 1000W version was to keep my system load at around (or below) 50%. This ensures the best efficiency and also the fan doesn't spin. You can hook it up to an internal USB port and view details on Corsair Link or iCue, which is a very nice feature. The only I don't like is that the test fan option is only available via the physical switch on the PSU and not from the software. The cables are very long and flat, which helps with management in tight cases. So far I can't hear any coil whine or any other noises coming from the PSU.I've included a video of the system powering up with this PSU, just as an example of the noise levels.

your usual motherboard 24 pin and just because some poor unfortunate soul out there might still needs to power ...
Slightly larger than most power supplies but given what it does... not really surprising.Comes with all the cables you'd need... there's 2x 8pin CPU power cables, 2x 4 molex, 2x 4 straight sata, 2x 4 right angled sata, 4x 2x 6+2 PCIE, your usual motherboard 24 pin and just because some poor unfortunate soul out there might still needs to power one... a molex to floppy drive power adapter :DSpare cables can be kept in the branded bag they come in. Comes with around 6 single use cable ties but given each of the modular cables come wrapped up in 'reusable' wire cable ties you've got enough cable ties for almost any job. Finally, the icing on the cake... the power supply comes in its own draw string bag. That was... unexpected... :D
