The only pen you'll ever need
I am thoroughly impressed by the exceptional quality of these brass pens. A key benefit is their compatibility with Pilot G2 refills, allowing me to continue using my preferred 0.5 refills. The substantial weight of these pens is also a notable feature, providing a stabilizing effect that helps to counteract my hand tremors while writing. Moreover, the durability of brass ensures that these pens will endure for a long time. While some individuals may be sensitive to the smell of brass, I find it to be a minor issue. To optimize their performance, I removed the ink cartridges and applied WD-40 to the thumb switches, and also added thread locker to the tops to prevent them from coming loose.I am thoroughly delighted with the appearance of these pens, which effectively eliminate the need to identify ownership among my colleagues. As the saying goes, "The pen is mightier than the sword", and I firmly believe that these rugged pens embody the spirit of that phrase.

Brass, and takes the G2 Refill
It's Nice. Supposed to be Brass and it smells like it. Nice Bolt Action. Takes the G2 Refill. The refill that the manufacturer includes is not as good. Use it quickly and then replace with a Pilot G2.

Sharp, Elegant, Excellent
This thing is excellent. I love every single little bit of it. The treated brass is absolutely beautiful and the patterning is equal parts functional and eye-catching. The bolt, once you grease it down a bit, is butter-smooth, too. It writes and looks nicer than some my pens that are four times the price (practically no tip-wiggle!) and the only things I'd change are giving it the pocket clip it has in its listing and removing that useless, unsightly tungsten spike. My favorite right now.

Satisfying, but heavy.
It's a great fidget toy, while looking elegant, and having a fairly discreet glass breaker. I've tried several Smootherpro pens now, and I really like this one. The octagonal shape helps with grip, since just a round brass tube would be hard to hold without it spinning slowly as you write. It has a slight brass smell, but nothing offensive. The cutouts help balance the weight better than other bolt, action pens. It takes time getting used to holding it so the bolt doesn't poke between your thumb and forefinger. It's a little top heavy, but not as bad as other options. As with all solid metal pens, it fatigues your hand much faster than a regular pen because your hand has to build memory and adjust to the extra weight. The fact it takes pilot G2 refills makes it incredibly customizable (as long as you like pilot gel) since pilot offers so many different colors and different point sizes. The ink it comes with is fine, and there's no reason to not use it if you just want black, but I swapped mine early on because I prefer alternative ink colors. I'm currently alternating between burgundy and teal in mine.I would recommend the natural brass finish since others have noted the aged rub finish comes off pretty easily. I also took the recommendation of others and immediately added loctite blue to the glass breaker threads so that it doesn't unscrew I my pocket and lose the clip. I've had no issues with the bolt knob as it seems securely glued out of the box. I also add silicon wd40 to the bolt action track to make it smoother, if you do this, remove the ink first, and wait until the silicon dries so that it doesn't run into the ink cartridge and ruin it.

Good pen
Got it for work to act as a better body for g2 refills that I get for free. I have really enjoyed it so far, the flat sides mean it doesn’t roll which is nice. The clip kept getting loose so I just took it off, you could probably locktite it to stay still.I have gotten tons of compliments on it as well if that’s something you’re looking for.I have dropped it probably 2 dozen times on concrete or steel and it is still fine, I expected it to get beat up and it’s holding up so far

I just love these pens!
I now own three of these bolt actions Smootherpro pans, and gave one away as a gift. I write a lot by hand, and I am very fussy about the pens that I use. These are awesome! They are heavy enough to hold, especially if you, like me, don't have the stablest of hands first thing in the morning or after exercise. The ink flows smoothly without clumping or smearing, and it has been my experience that this isn't always the case with gel pens. I have a small hands and it is still comfortable for me. It's very attractive looking, and I get comments on it every time I use it in public. The bolt action keeps the ink cartridge recessed when not in use, eliminating ink stains on pockets and bags. And, supposedly, you should be able to break glass with this if you need to, but I can't comment on that because I haven't needed to. All three of them that I have, plus the one I gave is a gift, have been consistent in quality.

lovely pen
I really like this pen. I like the design and the construction, and how solid it feels. yes, it does make my hand smell a bit like metal, but that's fine. I also like the fact that it is compatible with pilot G2 pen refill. I tried to just buy the refill alone, but buying the pilot G2 pens is cheaper than buying the refills by themselves. so i got some colors i like and refilled this pen. love it. i bought one as gift as well, and it was well received.it does turn a bit darker over time, but you can polish it.

Beautiful Pen; Somewhat Ugly Quality Flaws
So the pen is actually pretty good. I like that it's heavy. I like the look of it. I love using the bolt action as a fidget toy. That said, I must gripe that the bronze variant left my hand looking like I did an oil change, which made me want to wipe it down—then I found out my free trial of the bronze variant had expired and I was now using the natural variant, which I prefer the look of. The bolt action is also stiff and needs to be broken in. The tip is also not a strong metal like it is advertised. If you drop the pen, IT WILL STOP WORKING. What I did though was use a needle file to file down the bent metal blocking the ink cartridge.Overall, the pen is great, but it is far from perfect. It's unique, introduces you to brass pens if you're new, uses Pilot G2 refills, and can be polished.
