You could buy an inexpensive small set of molded tuning forks for about the same price. And. you'd get what you paid for. Namely, tuning forks that are "off" and not very useful for either instrument tuning or sound therapy.I opted to start my collection of high-quality, machined tuning forks with the Meinl 432 Hz. I would rather have something that is accurate and well-made over cheap and "pretty." The Meinl's wrapped handle feels ergonomic and, while it is sturdy, all evidence points to it being thoughtfully and carefully made. The tone is beautiful and lasts much longer than I anticipated from such a small device. 432 Hz is said to be the frequency of the universe. What a great place to start! I am not 100% convinced that sound therapy works, but I am leaning that way after using this device. SOLID!

You can buy other (cheap) tuning forks, but you'll just end up buying this one if precision and quality are what you're seeking.My guitar tuner yields a perfect 432 Hz frequency from this fork for well over a minute with one gentle strike. Yes it's quiet, but hold it right next to your ear and experience perfect pitch.I don't claim to have perfect pitch, but that's why I buy these forks — to hear a live example of the exact frequency — 432 Hz by the numbers after several long tests.Meinl delivers great precision in a compact package (that's a feature, folks — other aluminum forks are bulky and inaccurate).I may splurge for the bigger set, but I am very happy with this item ... expensive, yes; but not overpriced.Thanks Meinl. Bought this for my lady as she loved the 128 hz Meinl fork I got her previously. Unfortunately, this frequency didn't gel with her, so I returned it for a lower frequency fork. While the pitch didn't bother me as much, I did prefer the lower frequency fork I purchased after the return.

Meinl tuning forks are the best forks I own. The planetary frequency "science" is dubious at best, but if you are going for quality of sound, timbre, tone, & vibes, these are the best

I was expecting it to be much bigger possibly the size of my arm. It's very tiny. In order to hear it the best you have to hold it close to your ear. I don't think it's worth the money and I may return it. It has a nice tone and is quality made for what it is
