For all of you who haven't figured it out - you have hard water
Ok, so, I just ordered 7 boxes of this stuff, because it's one of the better dishwasher detergent out there. I would like to let all of you out there in on a little secret and my experience with dishwashing, especially those who were leaving bad reviews for this product. If your house has hard water (meaning water with a lot of minerals in it) you will get a white haze all over ALL your dishes NO MATTER WHAT SOAP YOU USE IN YOUR DISHWASHER. My wife and I have had three dishwashers (all of which, I bought) and we tried every detergent under the sun - liquid, the combo things that look like little pellets with a ball in middle, powder) EVERYTHING. I bought a high end dishwasher and MADE THE COMPANY WHO INSTALLED IT TAKE IT BACK because all of my dishes had white film all over them, which was especially noticeable on the glasses. I bought a 3rd high end dishwasher and had the same problem. White film all over every dish, which was especially noticeable on wine glasses or any glasses for that matter. So, then something occurred to me.....maybe there is something up with my water. I went to Lowes, and talked to a pretty knowledgeable guy there, and he told me I had hard water. I called the water company and the told me that my water was within state and local restrictions, but that i probably had hard water. The guy at Lowes ecommended a water softener and we had it professionally installed a week later. Now, our dishwasher make every dish look spotless, no matter what detergent we use. The Cascade is slightly better for spotting (if we forget to put the spot free stuff in the dishwasher), so i'm buying that, plus my wife hates when we get off brand stuff. But, I can tell all of you uneducated folks out there something, with absolute certainty, YOUR DISHES HAVE A WHITE FILM BECAUSE YOU HAVE HARD WATER, NOT BECAUSE CASCADE IS BAD. Hard water is just water with more minerals in it. What you are seeing when your dishes dry (the white film) is just the mineral build up - and by the way, the only way to get that mineral build up off is using Lime Away. It will not come off with soap. So there you have it, you all now have the secret to dishwashers and the mystery white film. I can stick nearly any dish in my dishwasher now, food and all, and it comes out sparkling clean- before we got the water softening system (for the entire house, by the way) every dish came out with a white film. stop writing bad reviews for Cascade, it's your water, you guys. thank you, good night, and good luck.

Great for coffee stains.
I do not use this in the dishwasher. I used this mostly on coffee pots and cups. Put just a teaspoon in with hot water to dissolve and let set all day. When you rinse that out it should be almost spotless. We use it at work on our Bunn carafes and we don't have that "old coffee" look. Works especially well on my thermoses.

Is a very good price - but each box is VERY heavy
These boxes are about twice the normal size of the ones in the supermarket. So on a per unit cost basis, it is a good deal. The one drawback is that the box is very heavy (almost 8 pounds w/o any handles or grip points) and some people may not be able to manage it. The carton with all 5 boxes was about 45-50 pounds!Would be useful is they broke this down into smaller boxes.

I love Cascade and don't use any other diswasher detergent
Gets the job done. I love Cascade and don't use any other diswasher detergent. The price through amazon.com was incredible. I will buy again. For use at home and at a large daycare center.

This is not the large box!
So this is my review of this Cascade Powder Dishwasher Detergent. I have been using this type of dishwasher detergent for quite a while now. I have no issues at all with this causing any spots or marks on my dishes. The only issue that I had was the fact that I bought this not thinking and did not pay attention to the size of the packaging. So for the $10.00 I spent I got a box of detergent that I can pick up for 3.99 at the store. A little pissed off about that. But my fault for not paying attention to what I was buying. Pay attention to the size of the products you order folks. For this price I was under the impression that I would be getting the extra large box. Not the case! This is the small 45 oz box and I could have bought 3 of these boxes for the price I paid. Big lesson learned!

Best value in dish washer detergent.
Easy to use. Economical because you can control amount you use for load size. Box stores easily. Handy metal pour spout for powder.
