Bought these for 2 grandsons for Christmas. One was broken but Amazon made it so easy to replace. I received another one about 3 days later. Grandsons loved it. The compass looks vintage and made a nice gift. So glad I went with this one instead of with another.

Compass works but is a little difficult to read due to the color of the background being so dark. Listing makes it look much lighter, but it's not. That aside, I really like it, but the hinge seems a little delicate so I can't attest to how long that'll last.

I bought this for kids at historical reenactments. Nice little compass, but it wasn't long before the cover hasp quit working.

A great looking antique compass. Heavy brass . This is my second as the first was replaced after the hinge broke off fir no apparent reason. As fir a compass… this is NOT for actual direction finding. If your around any metal it seems to be off by a number of degrees. In the car you’d think you were in the Bermuda triangle. It’s more eye candy than functional IMO.

Using for a cosplay.When I first opened it, the hinge didn’t open all the way, so I forced it. I thought I broke it because it didn’t close … but then I was able to bend it back so that the clasp was tight enough to keep it shut.Works well for what I need it for and very cost effective vs other listings I’ve seen.Looks beautiful honestly lol

It was definitely bigger than it was on the picture, and my item came broken. I had to fix myself. I Definitely don’t recommend you buy this, it’s not worth the money
