Perfect for cheese straws
I wanted to start making cheese straws for the holidays. Turns out, they aren't difficult to make when you have the proper tools but, without them, they are much harder. This press is amazing and works so well. Easy to assemble, use and clean. Highly recommend.

A fantastic tool that has brought so much joy to my baking!
The Fante's Easy Cookie Press is a fantastic tool that has brought so much joy to my baking! This classic cookie press is incredibly easy to use, even for a novice baker like myself. The sturdy construction and quality materials are immediately noticeable, and I love the sleek silver finish that gives it a timeless look. The press comes with a great selection of discs, allowing me to create a variety of beautiful, uniform cookies with minimal effort. The cookies come out perfectly shaped every time, and cleanup is a breeze. It’s also a wonderful piece of kitchen history, knowing it’s been a staple in the Italian Market since 1906. If you enjoy making homemade cookies, this is a must-have tool that adds both convenience and charm to the process. Highly recommend it for anyone who loves to bake!

Great for making cheese straws, needs a stronger die
I bought and use this press for one thing only, making southern style cheese straws. Cheese straws that I may one day sell on Amazon. Cheese straw dough is dense. it's basically cheese, butter, flour. I had a previous press that had a narrower cylinder and tighter threads on the main crank screw. I welded a drill bit onto the back of the handle to extrude the dough. The threads on the main crank screw are around 9 threads per inch. My previous press was double that and narrower. The wider cylinder and the lower thread count on the main screw means that it requires a lot of power to turn the crank. The die through which the dough is extruded that comes with the unit isn't as strong or robust as the cylinder or the ring that holds the die in place. I had a new die (star shape) cut from 2mm stainless steel that works wonderfully. I mount the press on a bench vice that is secured to my counter and am able to turn the crank with one hand while my other hand is free to handle the extruded dough. This setup works well for me. If I do decide to launch a cheese straw business, I might look at ways to mechanize the extrusion process. But until then, this product works well, except for the somewhat flimsy die that comes with it.This product would get 5 stars if it came with 5 strong usable dies rather than one weak one that allows for the user to select one of five shapes.

Works great for cheese straws
Purchased my press in 2017. . There are many things you learn as you use it. Make sure that your butter and cheese is at room temp. After filling it takes some getting use to. A rubber type lid holder to hold the main body and turn the arm at first til you get about half empty. Then use the crank handle. Clean up is simple. Well engineered design. Normally I ever write a review, but I have made two makings of cheese straw for Christmas.

Sturdy but cleaning is an issue.
Okay, love the cookie press for its cookie making ability and normally, this would be a 5 star. It's sturdy, it's well made, and it makes awesome cookies. Why the 1 star?Cleaning.Clearly, you can't put it in a dishwasher. It says not to on the box. So how do you get the cookie dough out of the tube? I thought soak it in the sink.Nope.Bad idea.I dropped this baby into the sink to soak over night, thinking it would be fine. I didn't want to scrape the butter cookie dough out of it with a long utensil and scrape the hell out of the tube. As you can see from my pictures, the dawn liquid ate away the paint or coating on it.What???It supposedly has a one year warranty. I'm contacting the company to see if they will replace it. I'm betting it's just a bad press.Heads up...Don't let it soak over night. That should be on the box too.Update: worst customer service. When contacted they couldn't find my order despite email, order number, and screen Print. I'm returning and buying from ANYONE else.

Game changer!
Works great for cheese straws, which is why I bought it. For those who mentioned residue- don’t put it in the dishwasher as the soap can cause discoloration. Also after using and hand washing, I made sure it was thoroughly dry and I rubbed a bit if food safe mineral oil on the moving bits to keep thing smooth. I hope that helps.I recommend this cookie press.

Sturdy but rusts
Got this for making cheese straws because the plastic ones sometimes break under pressure of the thick dough. It works, but don't leave a drop of water on it, or it will rust on the inside in little time. Rusted after the first wash, but I scrubbed it with steel wool, washed, and dried it very carefully, and it looks fine now. Wish there were more shapes to choose from, but it's been sturdy.

Did the job I purchased it to do!
I’ve never used a cookie press before, but was determined to do some holiday baking this year. This Fante cookie press was easy to use. I followed the recipe for the butter cookies and they are yummy. Light and buttery, but not too sweet. For the cheese sticks, I used medium cheddar, substituted smoked paprika instead of cayenne, and because some reviews said the dough “stuck,” I added 2 TBSP more butter. The dough didn’t stick at all. The cheese sticks are FANTASTIC, and addictive. I’m quite pleased with the purchase. Oh, and I thought it was easy to clean.
