Esta broca puede ser útil para perforar material suave como plásticos, que no sean muy gruesos. Difícil de usar en madera o metal, ya que al tratar de usarla en madera no corta suficientemente rápido y calienta y hace humear, casi al punto de provocar fuego. Para lámina metálica de poco espesor es casi inútil. Tal vez una broca de mejor calidad haga un mejor trabajo, o será mejor seguir usando brocas sacabocado, aunque sean especificas para una sola medida.
