I am extremely pleased with this product. I was struggling to properly insert my scleral contact lenses to the point of dreading the process. The S 5 Inserter makes a huge difference. I believe this product provides great value for the money.

I was initially hesitant to order this device because I was unaware of how difficult inserting scleral lenses can be. My doctor told me to buy this because the lenses are large and insertion with my Parkinson's may be challenging. You see, these lenses must be inserted with the head facing parallel to the floor because the lens must be filled (to the rim) with saline solution to work. It's tricky to do.When the insertion device arrived, I liked how simple it looked. Dr. Fayiz Mahgoub has indeed developed a product that is easy to use and it works. There are plenty of supports, videos, and personal coaching for those of us who need it. I was also impressed that research had been conducted to test the device. There is a very detailed set of materials, and Dr. Fayiz Mahgoub personally spoke to me. He was so supportive and helpful. Yes, I recognize that this insertere may seem costly, but in fact, I see it as a good value. It is easy to assemble and works as promised.

Im new to scleral lenses and contacts in general. When my optometrist tried to put the lens in for me in the office (while I held open my eye with both hands), we failed and dropped the lens 4 times before getting it right. I figured it would be an ongoing issue once I started putting them in myself, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to stick with wearing the lens.Instead, the S5 inserter has made insertion a breeze. I spend far more time cleaning and filling the lens with solution than I do on inserting, and I get it in on the first try practically every time. I am relatively tall and have a bad back, so being able to use the telescoping arm helps immensely with insertion as well. Also my vision is very bad without the lens so being able to guide myself with the yellow light is incredibly helpful. Despite the telescoping arm, the whole device feels very sturdy, so you don’t need to worry about solution sloshing out of the lens as you are getting everything set up/inserted.Finally, Dr. Mahgoub truly is committed to helping people who rely on scleral lenses. If you are new to Scleral lenses, great for you. Your world is about to change for the better. But if you are concerned or nervous about the insertion / removal don't be. It takes some time and practice but your eye is amazingly forgiving. You don't need this contraption. I would suggest a clean towel or something on the counter to stop a falling lens from bouncing into the toilet or floor.

I think this product is a great invention. It will make lens insertion easier for the vast majority of scleral lens users. However if you are missing the lens in your eye, you will not be able to focus on the light from the device and so will not be able to insert your lens with it. That was my issue and so I was not able to use it.

I've never worn a contact lens. I needed a single custom Scleral contact lens, with very specific care and insertion requirements. Old dog, new trick describes me, decades past senior admission to movies. I also have other issues that limit my bending and head positions. I tried a number of positions and holding devices, enhanced light to 'see' lining up. All during the course of trying to insert had many failed attempts. In my search for a better method, I found the SS inserter, I'm on day 5. 5 for 5 first try insertions. Still learning some tricks, still finding the best location to use it. It's an investment, however it solves big problems - and I'm happy I found it.
