I have been taking this for years in a lower dose capsule, several times a day. Now I only need to take one capsule daily.

I am using Astaxanthin, lutein, and Zeaxanthin along with Can-C. Eye pressures dropped from 18 in both eyes to 13/14 at my last eye exam. The ophthalmologist said to continue with whatever I am doing.

Helps me after an intense workout.. Good stuff!

My favorite form of Astaxanthin - what my doctor recommended - was Hawaii BioAstin (haematococcus pluvialis) at 12mg per day. He said something is better than nothing, but under 10mg you're not really going to see much benefit, you may be wasting your money.This is the same type of algae, though it doesn't say where it was harvested from.Swanson is correct that haematococcus pluvialis is the best source of astaxanthin (according to my doctor). Swanson isn't exactly a premium brand, but they've been around a long time and they do have integrity according to my previous experiences with them. I just wish they had information about their sourcing, where they harvest.The price per mg is exactly the same as the other brand. However, the other brand is a lower dose so I have to take 3 per day, so the Swanson is more convenient at just 1 per day to get the 12mg.I'm going to stick with the Swanson 12mg unless my doctor advises me otherwise.
