Schumacher Power Converter, 15 Amp, 110V to 12V

Bought this for use in my motorhome. We bought a power sewage dumper and it needs a 12 volt current to run. The manufacturer suggested using a car battery to hook to the dumper but I didn't want to haul a battery all over the US when traveling. Too much work to keep getting battery out, hook up, then put away. This converter resolved the issue. I just plug it into my extension cord and run the extension cord through my motorhome power cord opening to the power pole. The unit has an ON/OFF switch so you can control it at the dump valve. It worked great. I tried a battery charger/converter unit suggested by my RV dealer but it didn't have a constant 12 volt current so the dumper would shut down after about 10 seconds.This converter changed my RV life. Used it on a trip out east for a solid 3 weeks and NEVER had one problem with it. Other than running a live 12 volt accessory line and socket to my compartment this is the best way to go. All you RVers need to take note that if you have an electric sewage dumper this converter is what you need. Put that battery away for something else. This thing weighs about 4 oz and is about the size of your GPS unit. It will also work for 12 volt appliances in the house or outside when you need a 12 volt source.

We purchased this converter to use with our 12 volt Dometic CF-25 fridge-freezer. This converter works perfectly with the CF-25, provides plenty of power and is cool to the touch. The converter has a cooling fan which is fairly loud, but any converter that provides that many amps is going to have some kind of cooling. I personally would not be able to use this in a hotel room or anyplace close to where I would be sleeping because the fan makes just a bit too much noise for me. We have this plugged in just around the corner from the bedroom and I can't hear it behind the closed door, so I'm good with it. I'm still giving it five stars because of the price, it's cool to the touch, provides lots of power and works just as advertised. Very happy with this unit.

I use this to run an 8 amp 12 VDC water pump in a cabin. It works well for this purpose, no problems. I've been using it daily for a couple of weeks. Update: I've been using this all day, every day for over a year and it's still going strong. The fan made a little noise so I panicked and bought another one for a backup. I haven't needed it yet. We have a dry cabin with a water tank and an RV water pump. I transfer water from barrels on our truck into the tank. We use 100 to 200 gallons per week. I would encourage people who need a power supply to buy.

If you need a 15 amp 12v converter like I did, this one works just fine. Seems a little pricey for what you're getting, but I have no issues with it.

Purchased as a simple way to set up mapping on a Garmin product. Plugged the unit in and everything powered on and looked great. The unit had a touch screen and I had difficulty getting it to work correctly. I tried calibration of the Garmin unit but this did not work. I was about to call Garmin service when I thought I should at least try the unit in a vehicle. Plugged in and everything worked perfectly, no issues with the touch screen. One more time with the Schumacher with the same results and I printed out a return label. Thanks Amazon. There must be some voltage difference between a vehicle 12 v plug and this unit or I may have just gotten a bad one. Too bad this is just what I needed to do programming inside.

Bought this to power a tire pump.Works great and is very convenient.Would recommend this to any one who needs accurate tire pressure at home.UpdateMy unit still works however I had to replace the fan because it threw two blades. A capacitor also blew out.The parts are available on Amazon and I fixed my unit because it cost less than buying a new one.Update.Do not despair if this item conks out as mine did. It blew a capacitor and the fan threw two blades..I got both parts on Amazon.Very cost effective regarding the cost of the converter. It is working as new and I have a spare fan and four capacitors. The converter carries about four power capacitors.

I bought this item to power a CD headunit (car style) within my pop-up camper, worked perfectly!I needed this as my stock inverter (AC to DC) put out a very 'dirty' power source that fed into the speakers. I was very happy when I installed this unit to find that the issue was gone, only clean/crisp audio was left, woo hoo! I like the little fan on it to keep it cool, I'll keep an eye on how it works this summer and report back if I have any issues, so far its a 5 star item.

I bought this product to use with 12 v actuator to convert ac to dc. This one is heavy duty with built in fan. It is easy to install just connect 2 wires that's it. Although it comes with instruction manual but you don't need that. Its working. Great since day I installed. It has on- of switch on it instead of taking out of wire every time . it also have overload protection. Its bit expensive but you are getting good quality product.
