Q: What's the difference between the regular and "Limited Edition?"

To confirm, there is no difference, as the kit only comes in one color. We have notified the seller of the 'Limited Edition' listing to remove this misleading information. Milescraft apologizes for any confusion this has caused.

Q: Would I be better of buying a separate doweling jig if I plan to build a table? This jig looks like you have to hold it in place.

It is hand held. I do not think there is any way to clamp it. On the other hand I used it to repair a large table top. With care, the dowels came to be placed very close to perfectly and the table top is very smooth. As a repair job the pieces were already finished. No sanding possible without making this into a much larger job. Also, this worked so well that no sanding was necessary to my standards. It would need only regular finish sanding to be absolutely perfect; if you place the dowels with care. I am a very poor carpenter. If it worked for me, it should work for someone who knows what they are doing. You should be fine making one table where you need to finish sand the surface anyway.

Birch is the wood species that the dowels are made of.

Q: I can't use this product make holes & join lumbers thicker than 1.5" ?

This product is designed for use with lumber that is 1/2" to 1-1/2". It is not designed for use with lumber over 1-1/2".
