excellent product, BPA and additive-free
I've been using this brand of coconut milk for years. It tastes amazing and is great for being plastic endocrine disruptor-free (because not in a can) and additive free (no gums, preservatives or stabilizers which are bad for your gut). Because it doesn't contain stabilizers or preservatives it goes bad quickly, but can be stored in the fridge safely for two days and I find I can drink a whole 8.5 oz container to myself in my coffee or diluted to make coconut milk for smoothies/cereal in that time frame.I love that this doesn't taste heavily of coconut and tends to remain as milk even though coconut milk often separates into water and fat. If it does separate (as often happens in cooler ambient temps), soaking in a hot water bath for 5-10 minutes takes care of it. I have small glass jars I transfer the leftovers to to keep the unused portion fresh.Only think is the most recent purchase from Kah Mart was of inferior quality. It tasted like it had gone bad and was thin and watery. I tried contacting the seller and they did not get back to me in the expected time frame, so I contacted Amazon and they gave me a refund for the inferior product and I ordered a new batch from another seller.I've been purchasing this product in the same 8.5 oz container monthly for the last 9 months and experienced no issues with quality until this most recently batch (all different sellers). I sure hope it was just the batch which is supposed to expire May 24, 2018 and not a change in product quality overall.

I TRULY hope this is just a 1-time quality issue
This is only in regards to my most recent purchase.I have purchased this product 33 times, according to my Amazon records. Several times, around winter time usually, the product has been a bit clumpy and separated, but the taste has not been affected, as all i had to do was to heat it up a bit, and all was well. NOT THIS TIME. It was not only clumpy, but seemed to be almost all fat, and tasted HORRIBLE in my coffee, which is by far my main use for it. Usually, the effect of adding a couple of tablespoons to coffee is comparable to standard creamers. NOT THIS TIME. It barely changed the color of the coffee. Looked like i had merely poured OIL in my coffee. I wonder if it was actually coconut CREAM mislabeled? I would anticipate a correction upon seeing this review, as this product has been most excellent in times past, which is why i have purchased it so many times.

Get this for superior, authentic flavors
I only use this coconut milk now. I can't stand the stuff I get in a can now - this has spoiled me :) I use this when I make thai curries - an absolute must.. but also in many of my indian curries and cream soups. Great texture and creaminess. The flavor is so fresh.

I tried making my own (out of canned coconut milk and dates) and it was so disgusting I almost gave up coffee altogether
A year ago, I decided to give up dairy and sugar, which meant I needed to find a way to stop drinking my beloved coffee creamer. I tried making my own (out of canned coconut milk and dates) and it was so disgusting I almost gave up coffee altogether. I tried various brands of canned coconut milk, but they all tasted more like then can than they did like coconut milk. Luckily, a friend recommended the Aroy-d brand. This coconut milk a WONDER -- creamy and yummy, with no added ingredients and no nasty aftertaste. I purchased quite a few 33.8oz packs, and my only complaint was that they would go bad in the refrigerator (growing a weird pink fuzz) before I could use up the whole container. (To be fair, a short expiration date is exactly what I expect from a product without added preservatives, but it's still a bummer to waste something so yummy). These 8.5 oz packs are so much more convenient, and they never go bad before I can use up the box. They are the perfect size to use in my coffee, and also to make homemade ranch dressing, on top of bananas and nuts for breakfast, and even on frozen cherries as an after dinner dessert. In a pinch, I've even used it in mashed potatoes in place of milk, and it turned out really great -- creamy and yummy with no hint of coconut flavor.

Polysorbate 60 ruined this product
I bought Aroy-D Coconut Milk in UHT packaging for almost 9 years. It used to make me so very happy. Finding additive-free coconut milk is difficult. Packaging laws in the US meant that sometimes companies could add ingredients that didn't have to be disclosed. I give Amazon credit for hosting international reviews where consumers could compare ingredient labels. In stricter countries, labels disclosed an exact ingredient listing and customers posted pics which helped the rest of us. I blame Aroy-D for caving to the whiny customers who hated the "clumping". That clumping was proof the coconut milk was additive free! The first time my Aroy-D poured smoothly without clumps I knew there was a new ingredient not listed on the label. It took a while but now the label reflects the addition of Polysorbate 60. Because I love the product, I tried to ignore the additive. Sure, it was kind of nice not to deal with the clumps but eventually I couldn't ignore the scratchy throat and unhappy gut symptoms that can only be attributed to the additive. There aren't many other good options. I still have some in my pantry from the last order and I'll use it up eventually but that will be the last. This used to make my dairy-free, morning coffee easy and palatable. Pardon the pun, but I'm gutted.

Stop using canned coconut milk!
Aroy-D boxed is my go to for coconut milk now. No metallic taste from the can-these boxes are shelf stable until opened. If you don't use all of it, you can put the box in the fridge, you do not have to transfer to a different container. The boxes take up less space in your pantry & less waste in the trash. For those that get freaked out by the chunkiness-real coconut milk separates, that is what it is supposed to do. The thicker bits are the coconut cream. Shake it up well. Put it in your coffee, your curry, use it for hot chocolate, cook a pork roast or a red snapper in it-the possibilities are endless. The 8.5oz is a convenient size, but there are also smaller & larger sizes.
